This past July we reported that Rihanna was to be the face of the Gucci x UNICEF campaign for 2008. Since 2005, the luxury brand Gucci has been partnering with UNICEF to raise funds and awareness. The collection entitled the “White Tattoo Heart Collection” features graphics inspired by old school tattoos’ as well as Rhianna’s cluster of start tattoos on the back of her neck. The collection dropped this week at a star studded event at the NYC flagship store and is currently available on-line. Not all styles are available for immediate shipment but pre-orders on those styles are being taken. 25% of your purchase will go to support UNICEF programs for orphans and children affected with AIDS/HIV in Africa. You have until January 31st to make a purchase that will benefit this worthy cause.

RYZ is an on-line sneaker community like no other. No camping out, waiting on-line, no “sorry, it doesn’t come in your size”, no working your connects to get in on exclusive drops, no it’s all about who you know, no B.S. Just sneakers…designed by you. The community votes on their fav’s and those are the ones that get produced. It’s totally a popularity contest but truely a win-win. Director Martin Butler has been putting together performances with invited artists asked to bring 5 to 10 minutes of old or existing performance material, either OLD text works or OLD dance pieces. Working together to create a new work from the old work, recently the collective, Andrea Crews, was asked to get on board and style one of Butler’s “Recycling Performances” entitled ‘Lost & Found’. I was first “introduced” to Kesh via thee MySpace a couple of years ago. At the time it was her “KESHirts” that caught my eye (and her insanely huge hair…I kinda luv insanely huge hair). Her “KESHirts” are super limited t-shirts she would design and sell via myspace and word of mouth. Rocked by the likes of Lupe Fiasco and Kanye, they would sell-out fast every time! This talented young lass (she recently turned 22) is a self-made star! A model, dj (she rocked it at the Jeremy Scott Adidas Fashion show in Paris and can be seen doing her thing out and about across the Globe), graphic artist and fashion designer, she’s doing it big in both London and NYC. This past Fashion Week in NY, she was asked to present a collection for SS09. She had twelve days to whip something up, which for some might seem like an arduous task but this gal has been known to bust out a frock in a half hours time and rock it that same night….soooooooo, twelve days, provided her plenty of time to create a collection, a menswear collection no doubt! Tailored pants are serious business! Put on by The Fader and held at The Anonymous Gallery, peep her tech in these videos!
Our favorite remixers from San Jose recently dropped vol. 2 of their remixness. Like vol. 1, they bring it bangin’! My favorite is the “Blue Magic Remix (MeGusta vs. Jay Z), super smoooooth! They’ve got you covered from The Smiths to Lil’Mama. So if you aren’t familair, get familiar with Me Gusta! Download Vol. 2 here!
We love us some MadeMe and the Lady behind the brand, Erin McGee. She’s always coming with the fresh collaborations and the newest does not disappoint. Teaming up with the beautify and multi-talented Natalie of NINA SKY, the two have joined forces on this new t-shirt for Holiday ‘08. Pulling from Natalies background as a singer and graff artist (yup, that’s right, before NINA SKY was a group Natalie was hitting up the streets of Astoria, Queens with **NA SKY), she flipped the MadeMe logo into a fresh ‘musical notes’ handstyle. The tee comes in black, white and purple and is available at MadeMe Clothing. Get up on it ladies!!
If you happen to be in Paris tonight then go party at Le Regine. Brought to you by the design collective, Andrea Crews, you could try your luck in the Cabaret Contest and surprise all your friends by winning! We all have our hidden talents…holler!
