Lil’ Miss Giveaway: Enter to Win Dr. H. Bellin Scar & Stretch Mark Body Cream

No matter how think you are, chances are you have stretch marks. If you were lucky enough to not have them pre-baby, then chances are stretch marks are one of the many battle scars of having a baby. Lil’ Miss has teamed up with Swiss Skin Repair to give one lucky reader Dr. H. Bellin Scar & Stretch Mark Body Cream ($165 value!).

Did you know that dry skin is more prone to stretch marks? Because collagen and elastin fibers require moisture to stay strong, skin is more susceptible to breaking and forming stretch marks after winter months.

Created by internationally renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Howard Bellin (featured on the most recent season of the Real Housewives of New York), the new Dr. H. Bellin Scar & Stretch Mark Body Cream both prevents and reduces the appearance of stretch marks. It also moisturizes the skin throughout the day, deeply nourishing and saturating it with continuous hydration.

The cream contains natural emollients and a unique blend of peptides to provide soothing and conditioning effects, ceramides and a natural blend of butters to promote smoother skin texture, hyaluronic acid to help surge hydration to the skin and restore appearance, blends of vitamins for a more evenly toned and smooth appearance and pure Swiss Edelweiss extract to help with rapid absorption.

Fashion Meets Music: Run DMC

With two turntables, microphones, and a few pairs of shell toe Adidas, Run DMC completely revolutionized hip-hop. From the pared down beats and fully embracing 1980s street style to taking real hip-hop mainstream, Run DMC were pioneers in the new school, which is old school now, of a fledgling genre still trying to find its place on the charts.

Skipping the history lesson, if you don’t know who Run DMC and Jam Master Jay are I can’t help you, lets get down to the real reason we are here, the fashion. The iconic Adidas tracksuits, fedoras, and laceless shell toe Adidas sneaker are practically synonymous with Run DMC, so much so that if you wore all of those things together on Halloween everyone would know exactly who you were dressed up as. While the Rev, DMC, and Jam Master Jay were far from the first b-boys to rock fat gold chains with their tracksuits and puff jackets, their ability to take this subculture’s style and elevate it to the level of full on trend not only popularized a look but eventually an entire culture. As a wee child in the late 80s/early 90s, even I was taken in by the Run DMC look not once but twice-remember when shell toe Adidas came back for a slit second in like 2001/2002-I even wanted to be a full on b-girl complete with a piece of cardboard to break on. Although LL Cool J may have rocked the same look, Run DMC made iconic, they even had their own line with Adidas looooong before rappers had clothing lines and endorsement deals.

At the end of the day, all of us can say that we were inspired in some way by Run DMC, even if it was via Rev Run’s twitter feed. So next time you’re listening to some classic hip-hop and feel the urge to grab a gold rope chain and roam all over coliseum floors, throw on your fedora and get it popping. You know sometimes its like that and that’s the way it is.

Sundance Style: Black is the New Black

Some of our favorite looks from Sundance 2011!

Some of our favorite looks from Sundance 2011!

Park City, UT’s Sundance Film Festival may be notoriously associated with bright, puffy coats and over-the-top fur boots, but the overall style at this year’s fest was (thankfully) anything but. Minimalism reigned supreme as stars opted to go head-to-toe in black.

Celebs like Eva Green, Kerry Washington, Zoe Saldana and Demi Moore all attended their respective premieres in all black ensembles. While the dressiness of the get-ups touched both ends of the spectrum - Eva and Demi opted for more formal black dresses (Demi wore a frock from Victoria Beckham’s line), while stars like Zoe (wearing a Roland Mouret jacket) and Kerry kept their looks cool and casual in basic denim and black on top. Taking a cue from Manhattanites, black was easily a favorite amongst Park City’s visitors from Tinseltown.

Sundance has undoubtedly become one of the locales to be seen for Hollywood’s hottest, so it’s no surprise that It-girl Kate Bosworth looked chic and stylish in the chilly temps. For the January 23rd premiere of her movie ‘Little Birds,’ Bosworth opted for a timeless black Burberry coat. (Appropriately paired with black tights and black pumps.) Kate switched up her look the following day when she attended Chefdance, going for a softer feel with a shearling-lined Helmut Lang jacket over a Dolce & Gabbana maxi dress.

On the sidewalks of Main Street, it was all about incorporating winter-appropriate statement pieces into a subdued outfit. For example: pairing a plaid flannel scarf with a standout hair piece, or donning a fur vest underneath your jacket. Draw inspiration from actress Lake Bell’s laid back look - all gray can easily make for a drab look, but Lake’s green satchel and fur duck boots are the perfect accessories to keep her outfit from being anything but boring. Seasonal accents are an effortless way to jazz up any getup - without overkill.
