Runway beauty looks during the spring/summer season always seem to have recurring themes. Fresh faces with hints of bronzer, pops of color here and there, blah, blah, blah. In a word: MINIMAL. THIS year however, designers upped the ante with polished skin, sexed up eyes, and the brightest, boldest lips ever- one designer even used a pale green hue!
The best way to translate these looks from runway to reality, is to pick out an area that’s most appealing to you. For example, if you love red lips, keep the rest of the look modern with complimentary colors and an “undone” vibe. Winged out liquid liner, turquoise nails, and a messy, beachy bun is all you need for a sexy, summer style.
If you have problematic skin like I do, don’t fret. Many of these looks may seem minimal, but why not put your best face forward? If you’re brave enough to cut down on coverage, tinted moisturizers work wonders in hiding slight imperfections such as uneven skin tone. Apply a thin layer of concealer under the eyes, around the nose, and onto any spotty areas. Top off with a colorless, blotting powder and “perfect” skin is born! *For a flawless finish on a broken out area, make sure to blend in a bit of bronzer over foundation/concealer to “put life” back into the skin. You don’t ever want a cake face!
Whatever inspires you for Summer 2011, the less effort, the better. There’s a reason why the slogan “Easy, Breezy, Beautiful” exists. Mix, match, and just have fun with it! Remember, it’s summertime… and the livin’s easy!
