Blogger PROJECT: Melissa Shoes

Melissa Shoes Jason Wu
At MISS we’re huge fans of Melissa shoes and their in-line styles and collaborations keep getting better and better.  If the shoes couldn’t get any better, all of the women’s shoes are now infused with tutti frutti scent - it’s not overpowering but just soft enough to add a bit of fun - like a little secret just between you and your shoes!  Melissa shoes are also recyclable so make sure you see the recycle 3 symbol on the bottom of your shoe - it’s a great way to be nice to Mother Earth and also a good way to spot fakes.

After three years working with Vivienne Westwood, Melissa has branched out to work with other designers including Jason Wu, Gareth Pugh and Swarovski.  See all those sparkly Swarovski crystals?  Well, they’ve all been placed by hand!  Jason Wu’s pieces are all very feminine and classic with touches of lace (I love!), while Gareth Pugh’s pieces are a bit more streamlined.  Their line also includes a selection for men and the tiny dancers (soooo cute!).  I’ll be updating Lil’ Miss later this week with images from the children’s and tween collection. Check out the gallery below for a selection of my favorite Melissa shoes for the ladies…

Celebrity Style: Jewel Toned Shoes for Fall 2011

Make your outfit pop with jewel toned shoes for the fall! They are a great accessory and can really make you stand out in the crowd. Dress them up and do a little color blocking or dress them down and keep your look simple with a pair of jeans and a great blazer.

I definitely am loving this trend and need at least two pair this season. In my opinion, it is a good change from the nude pump craze that has now become a staple in a woman’s closet.

A. Blue Velvet Lita $159.95
B. Colorblock Peep Toe $109.95
C. Lewi $90.00

F. Suede Almond Toe 110.00
G. Waleo $89.00

Jason Wu Has Wooed Us!

Jason Wu will follow in the plastic path like designers Gareth Pugh, Vivienne Westwood and Jean Paul Gaultier by teaming up with Brazilian footwear manufacturer Melissa. Wu, the American fashion designer will reinterpret his own shoe designs, the designer customized two of Melissa’s classic silhouettes: the Ultragirl ballet flat and the Lady Dragon peep-toe slingback.

“It was really interesting for me to explore design possibilities with plastic,” said Wu. “I wanted to take advantage of the materials I was given, make it all completely functional and waterproof and yet still remain extremely sophisticated.”

Both insoles are printed to look like lace and each donned with their own accessory of a bow or the Miss Wu owl logo. Both Melissa + Jason Wu styles come in black, burgundy, nude and transparent gray.
