What I Want for the Holidays: Gabriella

what i want for the holidays gabriella 2012

Christmas is just around the corner and these are my five top things that I want from Santa this year. Two of the products aren’t out until spring but I tend to get a lot of cash gifts so I’m saving my pretty pennies for those items. Besides, this is a wishlist and I can wish that they release sooner!

Chanel Camellia Sneakers Spring ’13 - When I saw these sneakers I knew right away I had to have them.  Covered in black leather camellias these kicks would be the shining star of my sneaker collection.

Pantone Christmas Baubles - Pictures of these Pantone ornaments were floating around the web last year but they are actually for sale this year - only not in my city!  So Santa please be nice and drop these down my chimney.  They’d add some nice color to my black and white decorated Christmas tree.

Chanel “Lego” Boy Brick Bag Spring ’13 - I love Lego iconography and when you combine that with Chanel … I die!  I actually want this bag in red because I’m a sucker for red accents.  I’m just hoping I can save up enough for this bag - it’s one of those bags that will definitely be a collector’s item.

Chanel Wool Hat Fall ’13 - Ok, I know there’s a lot of Chanel on this list but hello? Have you seen my other site La Chanelphile??  This hat is actually out now and would be perfect for looking elegant on cold winter days.

Tom Ford Jasmine Rouge - I’m having a jasmine moment right now - I basically want to smell like it all the time.  Tom Ford’s Jasmine Rouge is just the right amount of jasmine to not have you walking around feeling like a flower.

I hope you all get what you want for the holidays this year!  Happy Holidays!

Fashion Meets Film: Holiday Special!

The Holiday season is in full swing! Now I know everyone is getting geared up in his or hers way. For me it’s more than just the lights, the shopping and the music; I need my movies! Typically you might think of such classics like “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “White Christmas,” or “Miracle on 34th Street.” But this list is one to help expand your tradition films.

People are too stressed this time of year. What you should do is relax, kick back, and laugh your butt off with your family while watching Will Ferrell’s movie ELF. I mean Will Ferrell in green spandex, how could you pass that up?

The Shop Around The Corner
Now you might be familiar with the remake “You’ve Got Mail” starring the romantic movie power couple that was Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, but The Shop Around The Corner is a classic that has always flew a little under the radar. Starring the one and only James Stewart.

Love Actually
December might be the coldest of months but this time of years always seems to know how to warm up our hearts. Love Actually does just that! An adorable ensemble film about love, family, and friends. Oh and strange Christmas music!

The Thin Man
This time of year is meant to be spent with family and friends. And there’s nothing better than murder to bring people together. Well that and whiskey. In this goofy 50’s film is about a “retired’ detective and his wife dealing with a Christmas murder while staying as drunk as possible. With more (and better) one liners than a typical twitter feed.

Comfort & Joy
You most likely know about snow ball fights but what you know about an ice cream war? See what happens when two Italian families, a beautiful shop lifter and a washed up radio host find the true meaning of Christmas in this Irish tale.

So there you have! A great little holiday movie marathon to get anyone in the mood. Find a cuddle buddy or your best body pillow, carmel corn, and a nice mug of hot coca.

Honorable Mention: A Christmas Story, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Home Alone, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Holiday Affair, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and The Preacher’s Wife.

Ask MISSter Simms - With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility

independent women

Independent women, your guy wants to feel important, too.

Dear MISSter Simms,

I wanted to get a guy’s perspective on this question I’m about to ask you.  Ready?  Here it goes.  Do you think it’s possible for a powerful woman to date a not as successful man, and if so, how can we do it without emasculating them?  You don’t know how many guys I think I’ve scared off because of my income level and fierce streak of independence.  Help!

Independent Woman

Dear IW,

Think about it like this.  How would you feel if one day you woke up, showered, put your clothes on, drove an hour to your job, and your boss told you you were no longer needed because you had been replaced by a robot?  I imagine you’d feel terrible and wage a one woman war against robot kind.

That’s exactly how men feel around powerful women.  We all want to feel needed and men are no  exception to this rule.   If you want to keep dudes from heading for the hills every time they’re around you, you have to make them feel like they’re important.  Like they are a necessary and vital park of your life.   That’s it!  You could be making a million dollars, and your man could be making minimum wage at Walgreens, but he’ll stay around as long as he feels like he has a place in your life.
