Women Making History: Kreayshawn

Kreayshawn

Kreayshawn is colder than a fridge and a freezer

It’s been two weeks since M.I.S.S. sat with Kreayshawn before the White Girl Mob show in San Francisco, and since then, this triple-threat cinematographer/editor/rapper has been making some major moves in the music game.   Just as quick as her swagged-out “Gucci Gucci” video went viral, with over two million views in only two weeks, Kreayshawn was quick to get signed to a major label, Columbia Records.  In the Bay Area, her native grounds, “Gucci Gucci” is getting rotation on the radio stations (with some heavy censorship, of course), and beyond, people just want more.  From her uncut lyrics, to wild and crazy party videos, to even some X-rated pixel art, Kreayshawn’s got it coming from all corners and we can only imagine what creations will come out next.

She has a creative alter ego

When we first met Kreayshawn for an interview for M.I.S.S. TV, she walked in stuntin’ in some Claw Money sunglasses.  She might have a small frame but she’s doing big things, with more coming up as she blows up even more.  Having just finished a radio interview, none of the fresh frenzy seemed to even phase her.  Yea, she was about to rock a sold-out show, yet she kept it cooler than a fridge and a freezer, with her demeanor being to just share her art and vision with the world.

Check out this exclusive interview with Kreayshawn where she chops it up with us about her early start, eclectic music inspirations, and what she really feels about rockin’ Gucci.

It wouldn’t be official without her survey.  We love nice shoes too!

The interview doesn’t stop there….More from Kreayshawn:

M.I.S.S.: What woman, besides your mom or grandmother, do you find most inspirational?

Hmmmm, I want to say Missy Elliot just because she’s always been stylish, and she’s always kept her own thing going.

M.I.S.S. What’s most challenging about either making music or videos?

Just time management. Signing on to too many projects too soon.

M.I.S.S.: You were in front of the lens for the “Gucci Gucci” video, but were you involved in making it, too?

The people who directed it and shot it came down from New York on a whim type thing. We all sat down and thought of a concept so it was definitely a collaborative project.

M.I.S.S.: Any advice for ladies who want to get into making music?

Just do it, put it out there.  If it sounds stupid to you, just keep putting it out there because there’s always going to be someone who listens to it who’s going to think it sounds good.
