The Visionaire 56 Solar all-white cover transforms into color in direct sunlight.
Visionaire is a fashion and art publication that is published three times a year in limited quantities. Each issue explores a theme and the content and format changes with each issue, with contributing artists collaborating with Visionaire to create their interpretations of the theme.
Issue 56 of Visionaire recently released in a limited quantity of 3,000 copies worldwide. The theme of the issue is Solar – and true to it’s theme – the white cover, and black and white photographs inside, change to color when exposed to sunlight. Yoko Ono, Mario Sorrenti, Alex Katz, Olaf Breuning, Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vindooh Matadin, Peter Lindbergh, and Ryan McGinley are some of the artists contributing to this extraordinary issue.
I would love to get my hands on a copy of this. The makers of Visionaire are truly visionary and they always find a way to delight the senses in presenting art and fashion. You can purchase your copy online on the Visionaire Web Store.

Visionaire N° 55
Visionaire is a “multi-format album of fashion and art” published 3 times a year in limited numbers. Each issue has a different theme and format, and the lastest issue, N° 55, is entitled “Surprise”, appropriately enough because this issue is devoted to pop-ups. Visionaire produced this issue in collaboration with House of Krug and “Surprise” include pop-ups by Sophie Calle, Andreas Gursky, Cai Guo-Qiang, Steven Klein, Yayoi Kusama, Alasdair McLellan, Steven Meisel, Guido Mocafico, Nicola Formichetti/Gareth Pugh, Sølve Sundsbø, and Mario Testino. The pop-ups come encased in a dark purple cloth-covered case with a magnetized closure and engraved metal plaque. Visionaire N° 55 is printed in a limited edition of 4000 copies. You can get a copy on the Colette eshop here.
Check out pictures of some of the pop-ups after the jump.

*I know proper grammar dictates the use of the word “were” not “was” but the title is a tongue in cheek reference to the song Rich Girl song*

This September 10th & 11th, Barneys NY is hosting a Goyard shopping event where customers can meet with representatives to create their very own custom Goyard case. I’m not talking adding your initials here – I mean you can design a case to hold anything you want. I think if I were a rich girl, I would make a few cases. First, I’d make a jewelry case – but one that would fit oversize bamboo hoops, nameplate necklaces and chunky bangle bracelets. Next, I’d make a travel case that would hold a few pairs of kicks, a few pairs of stilettos, several handbags, belts, scarves and jewelry. Lastly, I’d make a camera case that would also have room for an external flash, extra lenses, extra battery and memory card, cords and a notebook with a pen – this of course would be my M.I.S.S. crew case. Visionaire will co-host the kick-off party taking place at the Madision Avenue Goyard boutique during fashion week. No word yet on how appointments can be obtained, if you’re curious, I would contact Barney’s or Goyard. Good luck and happy designing!

What Marc Jacobs did for the Louis Vuitton Monogram when he partnered with Takashi Murakami, the designer has now done for Visionaire. Jacobs, who serves as guest art director on Private, the 52nd installment of the fashion-forward quarterly, collaborated with photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott on a series of intimate portraits reflecting today’s most contemporary icons from New York, London, and Paris. Drew Barrymore, Selma Blair, Lil’ Kim, Scarlett Johansson, Stephanie Seymour, Gisele Bündchen, Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney, and even New York City Ballet principal dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied are featured in the 192-page collector’s book, which debuts October 1 for $375 and will come housed in a limited-edition Louis Vuitton gold Monogram Miroir case. This collabo sounds nothing short of fabulous! Keeping in mind the people involved in this project, purchasing the fashion-forward quarterly would be a nice investment.
