You know you’re on the come-up when music industry movers-and-shakers such as former Def Jam Creative Director Vashtie Kola are hailing you as a forerunner of the music revolution, or should I say evolution. Jade, 24, had better get used to it, because with the release of her EP It’s My Heart, Cookie, she’s part of a group of young performers set to pioneer the airwaves.
After a brief stint on Pharrell’s Star Trak records, Jade teamed up with producer Precize of G.F.C , the force behind the mixtape’s electro-Hip-Hop feel. With Jade penning the lyrics about a game-spittin’ dude, the EP’s stand-out track “Up and Out” showcases Jade’s sweet and haunting voice riding the beat’s highs and lows. Another track, the New-Wave influenced “Take the Hit” featuring underground rapper Theophilus London, proclaims her desire to open up to the wounds of love. Mellower, “Beautiful Problems” talks about appeasing your lover even when they aren’t always right!
Besides being an indie-darling-in-training, Jade’s visuals fit right in with our mantra here at M.I.S.S—sexy with a touch of street. Peep her promo video for a glimpse of her style game—everything is on-point, from the arty-glasses to her Violette T !
Doing it up on the fashion front, Jade sings with honesty and vulnerability about the ups-and-downs of love and finding your way in life, which we can all feel. Look for her to blow up sometime soon, and get a taste of her sound with a free download of It’s In My Heart, Cookie.
