Kelly, Forest, Mint…This Fall Green means GO! From top to bottom, green was a predominant color on the catwalks for Fall fashions. Shown in big doses or small hints, shock the masses with Marc Jacobs Kelly Green outerwear or perhaps add a touch with accessories from Balenciaga or Louis Vuitton. With so many shades to choose from, you are certain to find a hue perfect for you.

M.I.S.S. NYFW: Ruby Slipper Event - Even More Shoes!

Here’s the last installment of the lovely Ruby Slippers we saw at the Ruby Slipper Event at Saks last Thursday.  Each pair was lovelier than the other, I definitely have my favorites but they really are truly beautiful in their own way and you can really see each designer’s signatures and themes come through in their Ruby Slipper interpretations.  Today’s designer’s include:  Stewart Weitzman, Rupert Sanderson, Sergio Rossi, Tibi, Tuleh, Valentino, Vivier, YSL.  Check back for pics of the scene at the party, the O.G. shoes and the Saks Fifth Avenue windows.

Fall 08 Couture Round-Up

Elie Saab Couture Fall 08

The Fall 08 Couture shows have come in gone in a whirlwind of exquisite draping, beading, and embroidery. The couture shows are always the most fun to watch because they are the most theatrical, the most dramatic, the most artistic. The Fall shows did not disappoint. I already posted about Chanel and Valentino, but here’s a round up of highlights and some of my favorite looks from Armani Prive, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Lacroix, and Elie Saab.

Valentino Couture Fall 2008

valentino couture fall 08

This marked the first Valentino Couture show since Valentino retired so people watched eagerly to see what Alessandra Facchinetti, the new designer that took the reigns at Valentino, would come up with. Her collection was ultra-feminine with gorgeous dresses and “ladies who lunch” suits. Facchinetti’s dresses are very soft, sheer and floaty and evoke timeless beauty and romance. Her suits were very architectural with volume in interesting places. Her palette was muted but there was still the trademark red dress - it’s the House of Valention, how could there not be? I think Alessandra Facchinetti did a wonderful job on her first couture collection, and I am excited to see more of her work.

Suzy Menkes, of the International Herald Tribune, talked with Alessandra Facchinetti about her process and the importance of couture. With very few couture lines out right now, it’s wonderful to see a new woman creating her mark in an area dominated by men. Watch the video below:
