In less than three months Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and the entire State Department, have embarked on a digital diplomacy overhaul aimed at spreading the word about American foreign policy and restoring Washington’s tainted image. This overhaul, being a part of a broader internet outreach by the Obama administration, has already surpassed Clinton’s predecessors.
Here’s the rundown:
- They’ve revamped the State Department website and blog to include colorful graphics and exciting new features, one of which allows the user to sound off on how Secretary Clinton should handle situations that may arise during her tenure.
- You can track Clinton’s foreign travels on an interactive map.
- You can keep up virtually with the Secretary’s every move via outlets such as Twitter, Facebook, Flicker, and YouTube.
- Before you could only pose questions in the departments ‘Ask the Secretary’ column which has now been changed to also include a ‘Text the Secretary’ option.
I’m excited for this change. It makes Secretary Clinton WAY more accessible than any of the men and women that sat in her seat before. Just imagine being able to track her travels, post questions about her progress, and even follow her department on Twitter. It all may seem a bit overwhelming but its nice to know that this Administration actually wants to know what we think about the activities taking place in the world.

Last week my friends over at The Darkside turned me on to my new favorite website - Snacks and Shit. The site is run by two guys named Chris based in LA and they dissect hip hop songs by taking one lyric and giving their hysterial commentary. I won’t bother you with my explanation - just go read it - I swear, it’s funny. And, pay close attention to the “filed under” and “tags” - those are the best parts! If you’re a tweeter, you can follow them on twitter and find out immediately when there are new snacks.

It pays to follow @JetBlue on Twitter. I am a loyal Jet Blue customer…somtimes to the point that one might consider it silly. I don’t mind paying more sometimes…often times not. But seeing that I fly every month (and have been doing so for the past 5 years) from OAK to JFK, knowing that I’m in the hands of comfort and care is important to me. Cozy sets, extra leg room, direct T.V. and the nicest crew…These are some of the reasons I love Jet Blue and will continue to fly with them. They recently hit 100, 000 followers on Twitter and as a way of showing their thanks, they are offering 10% off select flightsbooked until tonight at 11:59 p.m. MST, use code 100k_Tweet.
Do yourself a favor and fly the friendly sky’s with Jet Blue..and don’t forget to follow them on twitter here, they take care of their tweeple!
