Damn, seems like The Young & The Banging know how to party! Street parties, opening parties, 4-square parties, closing parties…party, party, party! So tonight, Heron Preston and Nike are doing it one more time! Pick up a copy of the book, a t-shirt, a free drank and also on display will be photography of NYLON blogger Tracy Antonopoulos a.k.a. Spacey Tracy, and photos from her time on the NYLON summer music tour. Holler at it.
On Thursday night we went down to the L.E.S. to the spot that formerly housed the Nike iD studio to see the opening of The Young And The Banging, the “downtown yearbook” and gallery show of New York City’s young creative talent. In true High School style, the event was complete with Prom Style Photos, Science Fair Volcanos, and chalk boards. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few people were caught passing notes. This event was put together by Heron Preston, young tycoon in the making. The gallery is open from September 4th through September 28th and gallery hours are Wednesday through Sunday 12-7. If you stop by on Saturdays you’ll be able to get your yearbook photo taken. It’s definitely worth checking out, and you can see more of what you’ll expect to see after the jump.
I ran into Heron earlier this year at Vanessa’s Dumpling’s on Eldridge St. while doing my NY hustle. While we waited for our $1 dumplings he shared with me tales of this project he was working on…a downtown “yearbook” documenting some of NY’s youngest and finest from the scene. I knew that it was going to be good, better than good…Heron has that way about him. And now the time has come. Entitled “The Young and The Banging”, Heron invited 15 ladies to partner as co-creators on the project. Together with LAGirlsNY, Heron Preston Presents “The Young and The Banging”. The opening reception is tonight in NYC. M.I.S.S. will most certainly be in attendance. Get all the party details after the jump!
