Back By Popular Demand: This Bud’s for You. Budweiser Beer Gear Past & Present.

Beer drinkers unite! I guess. Or maybe those of you that are nostalgic for Grandpa’s beer can hat or those funny shorts your uncle used to wear for the Fourth of July BBQ…they were red, white and blue after-all. NYC’s Supreme team recently dropped a collection of Budweiser apparel that is straight back to the future. Back in the 60’s and 70’s there were many clothing products made by different companies from Anheuser-Busch’s Budweiser logo. Fabric was even made available to the retail market, so if you couldn’t find what you wanted you could sew it up yourself…perhaps you wanted to cover your whole living room set. Now that’s serious. Of course there was (and still is thanks to the BeerCanHatLady on eBay) the oh-so-memorable beer can hat. Even my own Grandma used to crochet these bad boys up. Speaking of which, it seems to me that some sort of Bud beer can head gear is clearly missing from the Supreme collection…hmmmm. Although Supreme is a dude’s brand, a “lady” can rock most of these beer gear items and call them her own. Yes, I used Lady and “beer gear” in the same sentence. Just go with me on this one.

M.I.S.S. April 2009: Freestyle MOOOOOOVES!

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence…that might by true if you’re rocking these original Reebok Freestyles circa 1980’s. Often times we aren’t satisfied with our situation and look towards others thinking they have it better. Vintage cow kicks or not, we are in charge of our own life and destiny…focusing on others’ achievements and feeling sorry for yourself is a waste of time and energy and only puts you further behind. Look at the grass around you and if it isn’t as “green” as you wish make changes and adjustments to get to where you want to be. Times are tough for everyone right now, get creative, this is your time to shine! So bust some “Freestyle Mooooooves!” and M.I.S.S. will be here for you until the cows come home! Ok, we’re done ;)

Vintage Reebok Freestyle circa 1980’s from The Goods!, Chanel ‘Black Satin’, Revlon ‘White on White’, B.P. Nails ‘Cool Green’, Orly ‘Hook Up’ Yellow and D.I.M. (Did It Myself) ‘Freestyle Lavender’ ( mix of OPI ‘Strawberry Margarita’, OPI ‘Purple With A Purpose’ and Revlon ‘White on White’).

Zachary’s Smile Sets Up Shop In L.A.

Last December, NYC’s Zachary’s Smile opened up shop on the West Side. Planting roots in L.A.’s Sunset Junction shopping district, Zachary’s Smile brings a little of their East Coast swing to the sunny streets of Los Angeles. On a recent trip, I stopped by and chatted with the shops manager, Brittany. As to be expected, you can find a well curated collection of vintage clothing and accessories, that sits along side their signature collections of original designs. L.A. gets a little of that much needed New York swagger from Zachary’s Smile. You can’t miss the black and white striped awning located at 4014 Santa Monica Blvd.

Mama Clothing F/W 08: “La Vida Loca”

I had the recent pleasure of getting together with Mama and her “locas” to shoot the lookbook for her Holiday collection. Taking it back to a theme she visited in the early days of Mama, her collection entitled “Mi Vida Loca” takes inspiration from classic, west coast Americana style of the lives of L.A. Chola’s depicted in the movie “Mi Vida Loca”. The collection takes us from the Zoot Suit Riots of the 1940’s, to the low rider culture of today.  I always love the research Gabriella puts into her collections. Paying close attention to detail in making sure her collections are true to the theme that inspires her. From the silhouettes of her pieces (can you say Derbay jacket!) to the artists she worked with, Gabriella never disappoints in taking you on a journey and telling a story as if she lived it herself. These are all qualities that come out in her collection every season and I look forward to whats to come! It’s always a pleasure to be the stylist to this star. Welcome to the West Siiiiiiiide!

M.I.S.S. NYFW: Ruby Slipper Event - The Scene & The Store Windows

There was no Yellow Carpet at the entrance but we were happy to find out that there was a Yellow Brick Road set up around the shoe department at Saks that led you around to view all of the Ruby Slippers. I couldn’t help but don red shoes to the event in the spirit of the occasion.  Check out photos of the scene and the Saks store windows after the jump . . .
