Anna Sui to Recieve CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award

The CFDA awards will be handed out at the Lincoln Center New York City tonight and Anna Sui is receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award.  A mini fashion show from Lifetime Achievement honoree, Anna Sui and the 2009 womenswear nominees will showcase their designs, and Anna’s going to be the only female designer in that crew as this year’s class is full of men.  The well known designer has been recognized the world over for her influences in the industry. The show marks as a preview of the move of New York Fashion week to Lincoln Center…farewell Bryant Park.

Her “patchwork boudoir” style got its start in the eighties and debuted on the runway in 1991. Ever since girls have been parading the runways with print dresses and edgy  killer boots.   The brand stretches its reach through women’s fashion, cosmetics, and fragrance across North America, South America, Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East. She’s got a Soho flagship, 32 boutiques, international cult status (particularly in Asia), a successful beauty line, and the pièce de resistance: the Anna Sui BoHo Barbie®.

I have always been a fan of designer partnerships with mass retailers,” Sui told WWD exclusively. “I think it is a great way to bring fashion to everyone. I love Go International and was intrigued with Target’s new take on designer partnerships. It’s a fresh approach. I was able to select a muse or source of creative inspiration to focus the collection around. It is an exciting challenge to try and interpret my aesthetic into a mass-produced product with a specific inspirational source as the focus

This line was inspired by Brooklyn-based characters Jenny Humphrey and Vanessa Abrams from the US TV show- ‘Gossip Girl.’ Their “punk-rock” style reminded her of herself as a teenager. Mark your calendars, it’s expected to hit 250 select locations nationwide.

M.I.S.S. Michelle’s Beauty Pick and Tip of the Week: Ohhhhhhhhh…..You Can Touch This - Hair gets Hau-taaaaay at Tar-jaaaaay with L’Oreal’s Elnett, Heyyyyyyyyyy


 

This week’s pick is another fave I discovered at good ol’ Targaaaaaaay (Target). While browsing through the hair care aisle, a tall, gold, old school looking bottle caught my eye. I stopped to check it out, and upon closer inspection I realized it was L’Oreal’s Elnett, the keeper of elegant European hairstyles, which has not been available in the U.S. until recently, as L’Oreal has introduced this more ozone friendly American version in order be in accordance with the U.S. government’s environmental laws.

I like to think of Elnett as the chic version of Aqua Net. The hairspray’s packaging boldly states, “Disappears at the Stoke of a Brush”, which is no lie. Elnett gives your hair a very touchable hold, similar to Bumble and Bumble’s Does it All Hairspray (one of my classic faves), but delivers just a tad bit more hold (sort of like insurance, which ALWAYS gives me more confidence), while also protecting it from humidity, and infusing it with body and volume, a very European quality, and therefore slightly more glamorous than its American contemporaries. The color-treated hair formula contains a UV filter to protect hair from sun damage and fading, which is GREAT FOR ANYONE WITH CHEMICALLY TREATED HAIR, and/or for those that spend a lot of time outdoors.

M.I.S.S. Michelle’s Beauty Pick of the Week: Snackalicious – Get Your Health on Target with Archer Farms Organic Fruit Strips



I’m hypoglycemic, so in order to avoid feeling dizzy and spaced out, I have to eat a lil’ something something every three to four hours. So when I was in Las Vegas for the trade shows last month with M.I.S.S., I was excited to know we were gonna hit up the local Target, or Tar-jaaaaay, as I like to call it, to load up on some portable munchies. And after sampling a variety of the Archer Farms snacks, all tasty goodness, some very healthy and then some not so healthy, I discovered my new favorite healthy snack to go, Archer Farms Real Fruit Strips.

Orla Kiely For Target


Irish designer Orla Kiely, known for her trademark leaf pattern, has created a new and affordable designer home ware line for Target set to launch this February. Orla’s work is unique and immediately recognizable. Her designs are colorful and have an optimistic spirit to them—right up Target’s alley!

The new Orla Kiely Target collection will include tumblers, mugs, serving trays, dinner plates, storage crates and totes, placemats, napkins, floor and seat cushions, and some lovely aprons!

M.I.S.S. NYFW: Boots Protect & Perfect Skincare Line


Boots, a popular health and beauty company based in the United Kingdom, has come stateside to gain the cult status that is has in Britain. The last time I went to London I had several friends ask me to bring back Boots products, so I was happy to learn that now ladies on this side of the pond can get these great products. As one of the sponsors of NYFW, Boots had a booth at the tents where it showcased and highlighted products from it’s Protect & Perfect skincare line.

One of the things that makes Boots products great is that they are not tested on animals. Instead, all of the products are tested by the end users: 4000 women test the products to ensure quality and credibility. The products are hypo-allergenic and contain ingredients that protect your skin from damaging free radicals like the sun and pollution. The Protect & Perfect skincare also

[c]ontains lipo-peptides and white lupin extract to strengthen and protect the collagen and elastin content for firmer smoother skin[, while] Pro-retinol Vitamin A [h]elps normalise the skin’s surface by promoting cell turnover and encouraging the formation of newer cells for a smoother, more youthful appearance. . . . This innovative formula works to reduce the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles, while promoting elasticity and firmness.

One year ago, a beauty survey was conducted in Britain to determine the credibility of “age defying” treatments. Boots came out in the lead and was the only formula proven to improve the signs of aging in as little at 4 weeks. Soon after the Protect & Perfect creams were sold out all over the U.K. I was lucky enough to get my own jars of the Protect & Perfect day and night creams. Target Bullseye Bodega - Two Days Left!



A few days ago we gave you a sneak peak of the Target Bullseye Bodega and we had a chance to take a look inside and take some pictures for you to check out in case you couldn’t make it. I stopped by the 57th & 6th Avenue location in midtown and the store was full of shoppers with steady traffic streaming in and out. The store supervisor noted that when they opened at 10 am on Friday, there were over 60 people in line. The other 3 locations in Soho, Union Square and East Village also reported a great turnout.

The Bullseye Bodega’s are stocked with the best of Target’s collaborative designer products for home, beauty, fashion and accessories. Some of the collections are available at the Bullseye Bodega stores before they hit Target shops nationwide including Sigerson Morrison shoes, Go International by Jonathan Saunders and handbags by Anya Hindmarch. If you haven’t stopped by the Target Bullseye Bodega you definitely should check it out. Target Bullseye Bodega Sneak Peak!


Target is opening 4 “Bullseye Bodega” locations throughout Manhattan for four days beginning on September 12th.  The shops will feature product, by Target’s design partners, for the home as well as fashion, beauty and accessories.   Check out some sneak peak pictures and the get the lowdown on the four locations after the jump.

The Man With A Plan

Johnathan Saunders is on fire.

Not only has he moved his show from London to New York, but he has also inked a deal with Gola for a line of shoes - and now comes word that he will be partnering up with Target for a limited edition collection for Target’s GO International.

Sources tell WWD that the young Scotsmen is in talks with the mass retailer for a capsule collection that will probably follow the highly-anticipated Jovovich-Hawk line.

We really hope this rumor is true. If not, the very busy designer’s Topshop collection hits stores later this month. It will feature “jersey dresses printed with bold, primary color shapes.?

Wow, those would look great with our Gryson for Target distressed leather bags. Yes, we totally have our fingers crossed for this one!
