Nails Did: Rosa Muerta Tee
Summer’s almost in full swing, which means none other than opportunities to break out your dopest warm weather gear. Here’s another addition you’ll surely want to make a part of your wardrobe: a new Nails Did tee, dubbed the “Rosa Muerta,” and featuring a super-sexy graphic of a tatted-up vixen sporting a pair of feathered wings. If Nails Did rings a bell, you may be remembering the T-shirt collab and editorial M.I.S.S. did with the brand.
Don’t sleep on this eye-catching red tee - it’ll be gone as quickly as summer passes by! For more info, check the Nails Did MySpace page.

T-World #5
For those of you unfamiliar with T-World, let me educate you. Fresh outta Melbourne, T-World: The Journal of T-Shirt Culture is the ONLY magazine dedicated exclusively to the beloved tee. Known as a “journal” rather than a mag by its creators, T-World covers every facet of t-shirt culture: showcasing global and local brands, info on the best stores worldwide, as well as being a guide about the issues, resources and people behind tees. Not only is the content spot on but there’s some amazing design in the mix too. A must have for any tee and streetwear enthusiast!
Issue 5 has just dropped, and includes:
- Exclusive interviews and photoshoot with Estevan Oriol and Mister Cartoon
- A special feature celebrating 20 years of Shepard Fairey’s Andre the Giant Image
- A 10 page step-by-step guide on the t-shirt process - from concept right through to sales
- Feature on the A-Z of music t-shirts
- Interviews with the creators behind Hakan, BKTM, Boski and more.
I can’t recommend this enough, do yourself a favour and pick up a copy!

The good ‘ol cotton t-shirt. It’s up there with denim jeans and Chuck Taylors - simple, classic and a staple of mine (and many others’) casual wardrobe. With smaller t-shirt brands constantly co-opting established brand identities, it’s refreshing to see brands make use of their own icons. Case in point - Nike t-shirts. I’ve seen many shirts that make use of the Swoosh - but can say “Just Do It” the way a real Nike t-shirt can.
As part of the new Nike Sportswear line, Nike has issued tees featuring the Swoosh in all it’s glory. From the oversized logo to the retro sunburst - there’s a Nike iteration that you’ll love. One of my favorites is the NSW tee - it’s subtle and it’s also a Dri-fit tee so it’s perfect for working out. If these tees aren’t in the colors you want, then you can actually create your own à la the iD feature - yep, it’s not just for shoes!

If repping a brand is not your steeze and you’d rather rep a team then there’s plenty of college and professional teams to choose from. My personal fave? The black on black NY Met’s tee - what else did you expect from a Flushing girl? You can get your Nike tee at the Nike Sportswear Webstore.

Modern Amusement has called upon Australian native, Jeremyville as the latest contributor to their “Artist Series” Wearable Art collection. Each season, Modern Amusement will bring in a fresh design by a new artist for the 2009 collection, but for now it is Jeremyville’s turn to showcase what he has to offer!
Modern Amusement’s signature logo of the silhouetted crow has been given the Jeremyville treatment as part of the MA x Jeremyville collaboration t-Shirt. Jermyville’s mix of free-flowing, 70’s inspired psychedelic designs to the Modern Amusement crow has added a modern twist to the Californian brand’s classic and laid back look. Jeremyville’s doodles on the t-shirt look almost as if they are ready to burst out from the confinements of the MA crow, which gives this mono chrome white on black t-shirt that extra something. With having previously collaborated with the likes of Upper Playground and Kid Robot, Jeremyville can now also proudly add his works with MA to his resume.
This collaboration tee will retail at $50, so be prepared for the drop in August 2009! It will be available at all Modern Amusement stockists worldwide. Keep posted on the Modern Amusement site for more collaborations to be added to the “Artist Series” Wearable Art Collection 2009.

Last month we got a quick look at the upcoming Alex & Chloe t-shirt line “Forever and Never” that will be hitting stores in May. At a time when we’re overloaded with loud graphic tees, it’s nice to be able to have something a little cleaner and more grown-up when needed! Minimalism at its finest, the tees feature the trademark geometric patterns and shapes we’ve come to know the label for, with a muted palette of black, white, dark violet and navy – renamed black smoke, white smoke, purple dusk, and galaxy blue.

A standout piece for me is the “Laced” tee in white smoke – a collabo with Brian Lichtenberg. I know I said I was a bit over the whole loud print thing, but we can make an exception here right? The Laced tee has an all-over print made up of a bunch of different patterns - does sound a little bizarre, but at the hands of Mr Lichtenberg, it works.

“Forever and Never” doesn’t drop until May, but till then feast your eyes on the eerily beautiful “Tar” collection of necklaces and bracelets - “beautiful and odd objects found in the depths of the earth and sea, blackened in ‘tar’.” By “beautiful and odd objects” we’re talking brass keys, cone shells, and a kinda creepy rabbit foot made to look like they’re well, coated in tar! Hung from antique adjustable brass chain, each piece is unique, varying in size, shape, and texture. Jewelery that can work either as a subtle addition to any outfit or worn as a statement piece - and with the majority of pieces around the $65 mark, why are you still reading this?
Take a look at more from both collections on the next page.

After a temporary hiatus from the scene, it seems as though once popular sneaker brand, British Knights, is seamlessly making its way back into fashion.
They currently have an online store where their storied sneakers can be purchased as well as t-shirts that bare the company’s logo.
In addition to the throwback merch, the site boasts a gallery full of vintage ads and ask readers to send in stories of their fondest memories associated with the shoe.
As if you could forget, the first M.I.S.S. downloadable calendar featured a lace pair of BK hi-tops. If only the new kicks, looked as cool. *sigh.

Just when we thought the love affair between fashion and super heroes was winding down, Colette uploads this piece of action-packed jewelry to their ever so popular online boutique.
Designed by Japan’s version of Jacob the Jeweler, Antonio Murphy & Astro, the Pow! necklace comes in black, white, and various bold neon colors with silver or gold chains.
Unlike your typical Batman tees and Wonder Woman catsuits, this is going to cost more than twenty bucks - $180 more to be exact. But when you’re rocking something as frighteningly amazing as this necklace , how can you take a pass.

M.I.A. is already a style icon with her unique mix of vintage/ethinic/street pieces. Her selection as the face of the Marc by Marc Jacobs spring 2008 ad campaign sealed the deal. M.I.A. is taking her status to new heights with the release of her own line called - you guessed it - M.I.A. The collection includes bomber jackets, t-shirts and leggings in bright colors and bold prints - very much the look that M.I.A. is famous for sporting. No word yet on when or where to find it but we’ll keep you posted. If her clothing is nearly as good as her music, she’ll have fans here!
