Love this lady. Perhaps one of my favorite people, which would make sense as I met her through some of my other favorite people…my girls roll deep and in the most excellent of company, TRUST. And when you roll with such style and grace, please believe that the pool of creativity runs deep. You’ll remember Kerin Rose from our Women’s Making History interview series this past March. Piece by piece this lady creates everything by hand, atttention to detail and quality craftswomanship have gotten her noticed by the likes of Katy Perry and Cassie and others who I can not mention at this time (but know they are real, real good!!!). On my recent trip to NYC I had the chance to hang with my lady at her HQ, her home, the place it all happens. We did our girl thang: ate waffles and burgers followed by cake, talked about men NOT BOYS, squealed over vintage hooker heels, toured her home/workspace and of course checked out the “new new” from A-Morir.

Kerin could probably glue anything to a pair of sunglasses, I’m really starting to believe that. From heavy chain on her Love/Hate Convertible Chain Sunglasses, as worn by Cassie, Jazmine Sullivan and MTV’s Erin Lucas to killer studs on the most vicious and fierce frames ever (Lady Gaga you kinda NEED THESE), the lady Rose is making a life of what she loves, one Swarovski crystal at a time (only the finest). Her world famous Schubert Heart Shaped Sunglasses, as worn by Katy Perry, are being jeweled up in orange and a lighter shade of pink these days. AND she’s adding fancy fringed arm adornments to her offerings too…so MAJOR.

Social Sun Sunglass Hut Launch Party

Wow. So, I just got back from the Social Sun launch party at Sunglass Hut that also served as the premiere of the Claw Money X Sunglass Hut collabo, and it was quite the extravaganza. Packed to the brim with a selection of the city’s hip style and social mavens, DJ’s Max Glaser, Nick Catchdubs, Steven “Espo” Powers, Fancy, and a performance from Sean Paul put the room on throb as we gave Social Sun, Sunglass Hut’s latest innovation a whirl.  Social Sun is an interactive system that takes simply looking at ones reflection in a mirror to the next level, by using a computer “photobooth” that enables customers to  take multiple photographs of themselves  in different glasses, and view them all at the same time to compare.  Customers also have the ability to e-mail these photos back to themselves or friends, post them to facebook, or display them on large in-store flat screens to get instant feedback on the looks they’ve chosen. If you’ve got a webcam built into your laptop or monitor, you know how much fun this can be. You know you love to mug.

200 guests walked away with a pair of the Claw Money X Sunglass Hut shades, and thankfully I was one of them. The glasses simply put, are fantastic. The aviator inspired frames looked great on every single person I saw try them on, whether they were sporting  the teal, hot pink or purple colorway, and they’re constructed quite sturdily. As a chick that usually sports cheap plastic frames, I can honestly say I am really excited to rock these shades this summer. I wish I had all three colors, but really, I shouldn’t complain at all.

Sean Paul also announced that he would be releasing his next album this summer, so keep your eyes and ears open for that. In the meantime, we’ve got his infectious summer jams like Give It Up To Me to hold us over.

I’ve always loved Gucci. Maybe it’s the interlocking Gs (my first initial) or the red and green stripes (they call out to the Italian in me), but I always manage to find lots of stuff that I need in my life at Gucci. This summer they have an especially good lineup including the usual accessories but my favorite is the beach towels. I can picture myself jetsetting around to all the beautiful beaches of the world with these. The tote is great because it’s simple and big - perfect for going to the beach with your fancy beach towel. As far as jewelry, I already have bamboo earrings (the Canal Street kind) but the Gucci version are a bit more refined and are something I could see myself wearing everyday of the week. The bamboo bracelet is a nice addition to the bamboo family and no color looks better with gold than black. The stilettos are sexy as ever with the D’orsay silhouette and oversize studs on them. The keychain is a nice basic representation of Gucci motifs and the sunglasses, with their oversize gradient lenses are amazing. Ah sigh, if only . . .

I’ve always been a big fan of glasses since I need to wear them to see but this Spring the eyes are taking the cake. There are an endless amount of options with retro throwbacks like Ray Bans and Lolita heart glasses playing a big part. Linda Farrow Vintage, a brand founded in the 70s by Linda Farrow, was resurrected by Linda’s son in 2003 when he found a stash of his mother’s deadstock vintage frames. The brand has an impressive account list, press and celebrity following and they are adding to their pedigree by teaming up with some of the world’s leading fashion designers to create really unique, whimsical eyewear. I don’t normally wear my sunglasses at night, but if I had any of these, I may have to start.

I just saw these glasses and I am so happy. The 902 was originally released in 1982 and quickly became Cazal’s top seller until it was eventually discontinued fourteen years later in 1996. I love Cazals and this Dita remix of the 902 is pretty crazy. The red & yellow frames are limited to 250 pairs worldwide and the black & gold are limited to 500 pairs worldwide. They’re a bit spendy as far as glasses go but it’s not everyday that you come by a pair of glasses that look this fly and have the case, the cleaning cloth, and the case-for-the-case. The attention to detail is amazing and when you spend that much on glasses, you want to make sure the case will protect them - this case will protect your case!
