With INSA’s recent release of the INSA-Heels we had the chance to catch-up with him and chat about all things heels. From his initial interest in heels to confirming it is actually a fetish or not we dig deep and get intimate with Mr. INSA. See our original editorial spread of the INSA-Heels here.

Custom heels from Insa’s first solo exhibit in 2005 ‘Insa’s Graffiti Fetish’
When did your fascination with women’s heels begin?
Well I started painting heels about 5years ago. It began when I noticed I could spell my name in the shapes of high heels! After a bit I started to just focus on the heel itself as I realized what a power symbol it is.

What is it about heels that inspires you?
So much about heels inspires me- the shape of the object itself, the effect it has on a woman’s posture. The fact they represent so much to many different kinds of people- money, power, sex, fashion, the battle between male and female sexuality, dominance and submission, fetishism, consumer obsession.

Velvet Angels is a new line of footwear created by former head designer of L.A.M.B., Joe Ponce. The shoes have only been on the shelves for three months and already celebrities are all over the brand.
Most of the shoes are pretty mediocre but the Peepshow ankle boot above is sexy and definitely worth coveting!
They are available at high-end boutiques like Tani in New York and Diavolina in Los Angeles.

Just saw these few photos of the Louis Vuitton resort 2009 show. Two words: driving gloves! The black stilettos look killer, the multi-color Mondrian-esque shoes are crazy and the I could live in the oversize fuchsia bag. I can’t wait to see more and I’ll let you know my favorites as soon as I do!

I’ve always loved Gucci. Maybe it’s the interlocking Gs (my first initial) or the red and green stripes (they call out to the Italian in me), but I always manage to find lots of stuff that I need in my life at Gucci. This summer they have an especially good lineup including the usual accessories but my favorite is the beach towels. I can picture myself jetsetting around to all the beautiful beaches of the world with these. The tote is great because it’s simple and big - perfect for going to the beach with your fancy beach towel. As far as jewelry, I already have bamboo earrings (the Canal Street kind) but the Gucci version are a bit more refined and are something I could see myself wearing everyday of the week. The bamboo bracelet is a nice addition to the bamboo family and no color looks better with gold than black. The stilettos are sexy as ever with the D’orsay silhouette and oversize studs on them. The keychain is a nice basic representation of Gucci motifs and the sunglasses, with their oversize gradient lenses are amazing. Ah sigh, if only . . .

Oh, the Stiletto. How I love you! These sexy-lady-shoes got their name from the Italian word for “dagger” and if you’ve ever been stepped on by one, you know why. The stiletto made its debut on the Christian Dior runway in 1955, designed by none other than shoe genius Roger Vivier. Marilyn Monroe and other Hollywood starletts helped make the stiletto infamous. Whenever I have to get dressed up, my motto is “the higher the better.” I love wearing stilettos, they make me feel like a woman and they do wonders for sex appeal. That’s why it makes me very, very sad when I see girls wearing stilettos who maybe should be sticking to kitten heels. Ladies, if you’re going to wear them, wear them well, don’t let the shoes wear you.

Experts down under are reporting that wearing heels can be good for a woman’s sex life, as high heels tone women’s legs and strengthen pelvic muscles. Read the article here.
We already knew that heels made our legs look long, sexy and desirable, so the fact that tests showed that our pelvic muscles are more relaxed when we wear higher heels, which increases their strength and ability to contract is some pretty good news. Maybe the “pint sized actress” who won’t take her shoes off during sex is on to something! Now, before you run out there to stock up on stilettos to (ahem) “keep it tight, aiight,” just keep in mind that heels are also detrimental to your well-being, as they can cause numerous foot, leg, hip, and back problems. You can always Jane Fonda workout your hu-nanny with some kegel exercises. I for one, will take option b and will be sticking with my sneakers.
Oh, and if you’re wondering, the kinda fly stiletto up tippy came down the runway in Baby Phat’s Fall 2008 collection at Fashion Week.
