Having your manicure game on lock is almost as important as your outfit. The ladies on the scene at SLATE at Magic had the nails going on! From the above fav spotted at the Mishka booth to Mama keeping it classy with a gray and black french mani. The ladies for the most part kept the nail lengths on the shorter side but made up for the length in design!

Mikada is a new women’s line featuring graphic tees and key cut & sew pieces. In it’s third season, Mikada, the feminized version of “Mikado” – Japanese for emporer, is all about empowering women. Using iconography of classic Western beauty, Mikada takes inspiration from the glamour of European fashion magazines from days gone by. From haute French models daring you to “Imagine the Unimaginable” to Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis declaring, “I am a woman above everything else,” Mikada inspires ladies to rejoice in their femininity and know that there is power in acting like a lady. Based in Los Angeles and Hawaii, the ladies’ sunny attitude pervades the collection with the use of bright, happy colors. The cut & sew pieces feature outwear that is reversible and features nice details but the scene stealer by far was the acid washed pull-over hooded tunic. The Mikada website is under development so stay tuned for the new site – in the mean time, you can befriend them on Myspace.

We’ve been fans of CTRL for some time now so it was a pleasure to meet Freeman and Esa, the boys behind the brand, in person. CTRL is based in Helsinki, Finland so the guys made a trek out to Vegas but it was really worth it. First off, the collection was shown on wire hangers - which brought flashbacks of “Mommy Dearest” to mind. When you see the same hangers on all the racks, it’s refreshing to see designers infuse their personality into the details. On to the clothes . . . For Spring 2009, Freeman was inspired by international cities and their individuality. Cities like Paris and Jakarta played a strong role as recent trips to those places were fresh in his mind. The inspiration can be seen mainly in the graphics and patterned prints. Some favorites included his double entendre Paris tee (Paris, France v. Paris, Texas) and stone washed fleece (so comfy!). Check out more pictures from the Spring 2009 collection after the jump.

Ten Deep is keeping the ladies in mind for holiday and spring with women’s tees that feature their iconic brass knuckle “problem solvers” in many different variations. I love their neon brass knuckle sign (pictured below). Check out the tees after the jump.

Rock Smith is slowly adding women’s tees to their already stellar men’s street wear collection. We especially liked the Warhol inspired Obama tee. When we asked Erik, the designer, if he had trouble designing for women he had the best answer yet: “No, I have 3 sisters.” Haha. Great answer! Check out the rest of the pics after the jump.

The debut collection of La Femme GNS, the women’s sneaker line from Greedy Genius is dropping this fall and we are very excited about this (for a preview of the fall collection check out our Magic post from February). Digit, the designer of La Femme GNS, is doing an amazing job and really giving the ladies some new options for kicks. She’s got great style and seems to know what the ladies like on their feet. Pink is used only as an accent color - you won’t find any pink shoes here (thank goodness!). That’s not to say that the shoes aren’t feminine, they’re just not for 10 year old girls. She’s added some great details like studs and ruffles that make the La Femme GNS shoes stand apart from the rest. The shoes below all drop for Spring 2009 (except the Haze model). Check out more pics after the jump.

One of my favorite ladies’ t-shirt lines is Cream of the Crop because not only are the graphics cute but the t-shirts are scented! They take me back to my sticker collecting days when I had pages and pages of scratch ‘n sniff stickers - only you can wear these scented lovelies. It was especially nice to meet the founder and designer of Cream, Mika Hatsushima. She’s added several new styles and new scents to the collection including a joint design with No Kiddin and an Andy Warhol inspired series. check out the pics after the jump.
