Though, black roses don’t naturally occur in nature, they are not any less beautiful.  Loaded with meaning, the black rose most commonly signifies death and mourning and were commonly used at funerals.  SlamxHype just posted an article by We Are False on how to make your own black roses and I had to see what process was involved.  Surprisingly, it looks pretty easy and I definitely want to try it.  I think the hardest part will be actually growing the roses in the first instance.  Alas, I didn’t inherit my grandmother’s green thumb, but maybe I’ll have a black one?

SlamxHype has curated an art show entitled Bailout, a group show exploring the concept of Consumerism.  Participating artists include Jon Dragonette, Anthony Lister, Kevin Lyons, Butcher Block, Misery, Andrew Pommier, Robert Abeyta, Jr. and Ekundayo. The show is at the Continental Gallery in downtown LA and has two openings.  The first is Saturday, December 6th, and the second is on Thursday, 12.11.08 as part of the Downtown Art Walk, with an afterparty.

Recoat Gallery (in Glasgow, United Kingdom) is coming to the end of its first year… and to celebrate they’re holding a live paint jam at the gallery on August 15th from 6pm onwards where SHEONE, O.TWO and Stefan Plaetz will paint alongside REKOR, LYKEN and ELPH. The following day on August 16th, their birthday exhibition entitled The Bothan Spynetwork shows from 7-10pm. Scott Wilson of Slamxhype will be curating the show. 25 artists will be showing, including legendary New York graffiti artists such as Futura, Stash, Crash and Daze, world famous fashion photographer, Fatsarazzi, and renowned toy designer, Klim Kozinevich (just to name a few!). This is ill!!!

Come out and celebrate an amazing event dedicated to street culture represented by a wide variety of artists working in different media, coming from different backgrounds… Plus the first 3 people attending will receive a Vestal watch and the first 20 people will receive a limited edition t-shirt that has the signature of every participating artist on the back. DOPE!

We just got a glimpse of Claw Money’s Spring 08 preview and it is hot, hot hot! The new collection consists of tees, over-size tees, and Claw’s signature scarf jackets. The themes include twists on luxury fashion house icons, sparkley lurex ribb on the jackets, a little nautical and references to Claw Money’s PMS Crew. The shoot was styled with leggings and spandex galore! Not sure if any of it is part of the Claw Money collection but we will do some investigating and find out for you! The new pieces are dropping soon at Claw Money retailers so be on the look out and get your wallets ready!
