Now that I no longer live in NYC, I do not have easy access to the Ralph Lauren Rugby Store, and I have been going through some serious ‘dress like a rich college kid’ withdrawal. 

I was on the Ralph Lauren site today and I was so excited to find out that they are relaunching their rugby.com site as an e-commerce web site. Now I can shop online like a collegiate crackhead.  This is all happening in mid-August, just in time for the start of school.  I’m so psyched that I might have to go back to college and hang with some frat boys. Straight up Old School Frank-the-Tank style.

Ralph Lauren is releasing a new fragrance this fall called Notorious.  Much like the Hitchcock film Notorious, the fragrance is inspired by film noir, and is at once sexy, bold, dark and mysterious.  The bottle is very Art Deco (a bit reminiscent of Chanel, no?) and comes packaged in a black crocodile - similar to the RL Ricky bags.  The scent is described as a “sparkling spiced oriental” and includes “top notes of black currant, spicy pink peppercorn and Italian bergamot; middle notes of chocolate cosmos, white frost peonies and carnation, and bottom notes of patchouli musk, vanilla and orris.”  Notorious will launch exclusively at Bloomingdales in August and then will roll out to other department stores.  I’ve always loved the film noir look, and if this smells as good as it looks, then I can’t wait to try it out!
