We tipped you off to the Dust La Rock event last week and we hope you didn’t decide to Netflix instead….because this event was off the meat rack!

After a fast-moving line at the Christopher Henry Gallery on Elizabeth Street, we checked out the first floor of Dust La Rock’s “Best of the Beast” (BOTB) exhibit and were greeted with some cold Red Stripes. Good way to butter us up. The night got exponentially better from there, because by the second floor the art got pretty boss.

Ramping up the game in women’s streetwear for the warmer months ahead, the new collection from AKDMKS features distinct colours, bold patterns and a certain edge guaranteed to catch ones eye.
Channeling sexy chic with a little bit o ‘tude like no other, the new line boasts none other than the animal print and acid wash jeans, flattering cuts and graphic tees all set to be staples for the coming months ahead. Cropped jackets and playsuits prove this line to be versatile for a day chillin’ with the ladies or a night on the town.

See something familiar? Well, it could be that you recognise the jewellery in these photos – which are exclusive Cubannie Links pieces made by one of our women making history, Annie Basulto. As if that isn’t enough, fellow woman making history miss Radio Rose Garcia styled the fierce AKDMKS campaign - It’s just too good to be true, ahh!
Be sure to keep your eye out for the Spring 09 collection due to hit stores soon!

Radio Rose
Like Radio Raheem (yep, I reference him again!), Radio Rose is known around the way…but unlike Raheem, Rose rocks “Bamboo earrings—at least two pair!”
Along with rockin’ bamboos, Rose is known for rockin’ dance floors (NYC!), photo shoots (MissBehave Magazine) AND the blogosphere (Around The Way Girls)! One of those alone is enough to honor this lady for doing her thang!
Today, M.I.S.S. Crew salutes, Radio Rose!

Above: A look at Rose’s “office space”…I want to go to there…
Step into Radio Rose’s world via a survey, Q&A, and lots of pics, after the jump!

I manage to make it out to BK while on my monthly NYC visit…I don’t know why that seems like a task to me, I know it’s not really that far. But when there’s vintage involved, there is no distance too far, rain, sleet or snow, I am there! ATWG teamed up with BK’s vintage vixen, Serci aka Funky Fanny’s to throw a little vintage sale extravaganza at the Pillow Cafe. Radio Rose provided the soundtrack for the night (I know I’ve said that before but that IS what she does!) and the ladies shopped! My connection to Serci goes back a couple of years ago. While on the hunt in Las Vegas we crossed paths at Savers, the thrift department store. If was the friendliest of encounters, believe me there is plenty of the goods to go around. We chatted briefly and that was that, until this event. Happy to be reconnected!

Serci aka The Funky Fanny and her homegirl.
See more funky fanny’s and the vintage after the jump!

On my most recent trip to NYC I managed to get out and about and hit up the FILA launch party for their “Melrose” sneaker. This MissBehave sponsored event had the people lined up down the block…in the rain. Big thanks to Christine from MissBehave, good looking out lady! Radio Rose held things down and provided a most excellent soundtrack for the night. All the ladies where in the house this night…ATWG, Female Sneakerfiend, Highsnobette, Bubblegum Pony and Erin from MadeMe. And of course Nina Sky. These ladies do the damn thing! More beautiful in person they held the crowd at attention as they preformed…they even got the people to “put your hands up in the air”. Um, I was busy videoing, so I opted to not “put my hands up” but enjoyed the evening nonetheless.
The Melrose in action!

See more picts, nails did and videos of the ladies of Nina Sky doing the damn thing…including their version of the Eurythmics “Sweet Dreams”, sooooo hot!
