This summer Matiko is giving our lovely feet something to be happy about with a collection encompassing footwear that can take you from day to night

With Christmas and a new year right around the corner, those of us in the holiday spirit are finding ourselves looking back on a year that’s past, remembering all the good, bad, and ugly moments it brought us. Forget that.  If you’re anything like me, you’re looking forward to a new exciting and exhilarating year one in which the fashion will be out of this world amazing. Spring 2010 is happening now, if you’re going by the clock the fashion world uses. Catwalks have been walked, look books dissected, and for me those spring summer months couldn’t come quick enough, especially after tasting what Matiko Shoes has in store for us.

Founded in 2003 by young designer Jesse Howard, Matiko Shoes has been making waves providing comfortable footwear, not only worn by stars such as Rihanna, Fergie, Rachel Bilson, and Gwen Stefani, but is affordable enough for you and I to wear also. This summer Matiko is giving our lovely feet something to be happy about with a collection encompassing footwear that can take you from day to night. Studs seem to be a theme for this collection with the accessory showing up on several shoes including the wedged sandal Blondie, the gladiator sandal Gem, and transforming an otherwise subtle flat Tipper. Matiko also has a few pairs of shoes I can definitely see myself in during a nice summer night on the town, specifically Sloane, the cut out wedge sandal, Sidney and Krista, a pair of open toed heels that make my heart melt, and Nessa the multicolored low heeled wedge coming in a plethora of colors including hot pink/brown, your basic black, and tan/brown to name a few.

Overall the Matiko Shoes collection makes me excited for this summer, but there’s just one shoe that makes me want summer here NOW. This shoe, being the lovely, wonderful, amazing, jaw dropping, terrific, spectacular, did I say amazing, KAT! This shoe is not your average gladiator sandal my friend. It’s WAY BETTER. Knee high with buckles galore and a impressive wedge heel, this is gladiator sandal of the future. The Glamorous Life: Rachel Bilson Kicks Off Target To-Go

While the rest of us all over America are forced to pick out gifts, stand in heinous lines, and fumble with wrapping paper, Target shoppers in New York, Washington D.C. and San Francisco will be treated to a three day only walk up Holiday event called Target To-Go. Everything you need for everyone on your list will be wrapped and ready to go.

Tomorrow, Friday December 11, Target will be kicking off Target To-Go in New York City with the help of actress Rachel Bilson at 9:30 am. Bilson will be flexing her gift giving muscles by assisting Target with the presentation of gifts and $100 Target gift cards to families in need selected by The Salvation Army.

The Target To-Go pop up shop will be popping up tomorrow, December 11, at Ganesvoort and Washington Streets at the High Line entrance from 10am -8pm daily until December 13. Be sure to stop by and take advantage of getting all of your shopping and wrapping done in one place, unlike the rest of us who have to figure out how to get department store bows on our presents at home.

You know when your clothing is featured on shows like Gossip Girl, Sex & the City, America’s Next Top Model, and The Hills you’re onto a good thing.  Further proof that things are on the up would be having your clothes worn by the likes of Eva Mendes, Rachel Bilson, Mischa Barton, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.  So it’s safe to say that Boy Meets Girl founder/designer Stacy Morgenstern Igel is doing pretty well for herself!  This Lady kinda makes me feel like an underachiever – she triple-majored in Fashion Design, Retail and Business (I’m flat-out just doing one!) and then single-handedly built her company from the ground up.

Boy Meets Girls is all about “comfortable clothes that make you feel happy and sexy,” with a variety of inspiration taken from 1920’s Hollywood icons, to the music and art scene of downtown NY.  Great for girly-girls and tomboys alike, pieces range from sporty-casual to sleek and sexy – a lot of the time a mix of the two.

The Summer ‘09 range screams simple sophistication with some slight preppyness, while managing to stay coy and playful at the same time – sounds like an impossible combo I know! Taking a step away from the sportiness of their Spring drop, the current line is a mix of playsuits, simple tees and tanks, and some cute dresses perfect for both day and night. The colour palette consists of a lot of black, with splashes of neon tangerine, mushroom pink, and grey. The beauty of such simple pieces is how you can either throw them on and walk out the door or pile on the accessories (and then walk out the door). Looking over the collection I had a hard time selecting images as I pretty much loved everything (a rare thing for me) – pick up any of these and you’ll be snapping necks in no time! Rachel Bilson is the newest celebrity to hop on the clothing line band wagon in a joint effort with DKNY Jeans. The new collection is set to release in September and is targeting more “fashion forward” ladies. The line consists of about 15 looks including tops, jackets and denim. The collection will be sold in similar doors as the DKNY Jeans line such as department stores. I don’t know about you but I’m kinda tired of the whole celebrity clothing line thing. The stuff looks cute but not exceptional and I guess we’ll have to see if it’s a special release or it will have longevity.
