Spring is in the air, and you know what that means - time to add some new sunshine to your wardrobe! But if you’re anything like me, the recession is hitting you and your dreams of brand new shoes and dresses will have to go on hold for a while. But who says you can’t cop some cute baubles at great prices in the meantime (at least until those heels you’ve been drooling over go on sale for 50% off!)?

So pull out your wallets and pick up a few of these stunner pieces to keep you happy - and fresh to death - as spring rolls in.
Keep is one of our favorite footwear brands because they’re in business for the ladies. Season after season they take their line to a new level - whether it’s new silhouettes, new fabrications or new markets. The ladies recently launched a children’s line in February and they are some of the cutest itty bitty shoes! They’re not your regular kid’s shoes - not childish gimmicks - just clean design shrunken down for the little ones. Keep has also been flipping the sneaker envy. You know how normally with other brands you wish you could get the guys shoes? Well, with Keep, it’s the other way around. Like an savvy business ladies they’re offering the line in larger sizes to accommodate the boys, but here’s the catcher, the boys have to order in women’s sizes! Ha! A little of their own medicine, eh?
For Fall ‘09 Una was inspired by the holidays and the coziness of the season. One of the new fabrications is moire faille, a textile that has the look and feel of grosgrain ribbon - reminiscent of holiday gift wrapping. For all those times you want to cozy up to the couch and snack, you can rock the pretzel pattern. Or, if you’re just going casual their are many chambray and corduroy options, and other menswear inspired fabrics. On top of it all, Keep is vegan, eco-friendly and animal friendly - that is they don’t harm animals and have recently received PETA sponsorship. So, not only will you look good wearing these, you can feel good about wearing them too!
We’ve been long time fans of Ce Ce Chin and her progressive line of women’s footwear, 80%20. For Spring, she was inspired by the casual glamour of the 1970’s - think the ladies of leisure on Fantasy Island and The Love Boat. Many of the styles feature cork platforms so they’re chic but still very wearable and comfortable. Another big theme in the collection is “cut outs” - whether it’s peekaboo toes or a glimpse of an ankle in a high boot, 80%20 gives you the unexpected in a fresh, young way. Cut outs were also featured in intricate latice-type work in ankle boots - very cute! The color palette is perfect for spring and evokes the sunshine, flowers and fruits of the season. From a lemon yellow, melon-y orange, and an Iris purple, the colors are complemented by brown and black leather. It’s wonderful to see how the line has progressed and you can listen to the lovely Ce Ce tell you about the collection and the inspiration here:

80%20′s collection “has come a long way, baby.” I remember when I first heard about the line I was really smitten by the slip-on’s with graphics . For Fall 2008, Ce ce’s gotten all grown and sexy on us. The line definitely has casual shoes for the girl on-the-go, but 80%20’s line has expanded to include boots and heels. The boots come in wedge and heel styles: The wedges seem super comfy and the heels replicate the vintage silhouette in a way that’s nostalgic but still maintains a modern look. They come in all lengths from ankle to over-the-knee. The heels come in basic colors with accents of pop colors and are perfect for day-to-night transitional outfits. The Fall ‘08 collection recently launched and be sure to check out more pics and the video Look Book after the jump.
Back in February we gave you a first glimpse of the Melissa Shoes x Vivienne Westwood collection and this time around we have sneak peaks of their Spring 2009 collection. The Vivienne Westwood collaborative series has expanded to include more styles - my very favorite is the “Lady Dragon” an open-toe sling-back with detachable heart (pictured below). All of the styles come in a rainbow assortment of fruity colors to go with any ensemble. Another new style is the “Three Staps” a gladiator sandal with, you guessed it, 3 straps. They are also re-issuing the Mary Jane II and the Ultragirl II - we’ve already posted about those styles and you can view them here. I absolutely love the matte black Ultragirl II - so chic! There are also two amazing new styles done in collaboration with Alexandre Herchcovitch - check out all the pics after the jump! The styles start shipping in December and will be available on RevolveClothing.com.
The ladies of She-Bible are expanding their collection and we love it! They do amazing things with fleece and baby french terry and they’ve applied their feminine designs to new fabrics including a new organic collection. I especially love their polka-dot ruffle-y sundresses and their fringe tank - yes fringe! Get to shaking!! See the rest of the pictures of selections from their Spring ‘09 collection after the jump. One of our favorite independent women’s footwear lines, Keep, is expanding their line to include more styles of footwear and more apparel - and we have the pics for you to check it out! One of my favorite collections for Spring 2009 is the Watermelon series (pictured below). The Spring line also includes some great floral prints, pretty plaids, slip on ballet flats and slides. The apparel collection is their largest yet and includes lots of cute cut & sew pieces like sundresses, tops, jackets, leggings, skirtalls and sweat shorts (our fave!). Check out all the pics after the jump.
We have been long time lovers of 31 Corn Lane and it’s always fun to visit the ladies and see what’s new and exciting! Spring 09 is an offering of Little House on the Prairie inspired bags and jewelery. Ditsy floral prints paired with rugged raw denim and rope detail handles are reminiscent of Laura Ingalls Wilde. The fun twist to the collection is the “lil Hood on the Prairie” aspect with two finger rings and big old gold hoop earrings…loving it! See more of the Spring collection and Fall 08 after the jump! One of the brands we were most looking forward to check out was Hellz Bellz because Lanie is amazing at pushing the line to next levels. We could only take pictures of the Fall 2008 collection which included a color palette of red, white, black, gray and turquoise. Fabrications included lots of plaid and new leather outerwear. Lanie has big plans for Spring 2009 - we couldn’t take any pics but we saw some great pieces from a Stussy x Hellz Bellz collection, handbags and a Reebok shoe in the works! So exciting!!
