M.I.S.S. NYFW: Colette x Gap Opening

On Saturday, September 6th, the much awaited Colette x Gap pop-up shop on 54th & 5th opened to the public at 10 am.  I didn’t make it to the store until 12:30, and I figured that by that time any line would have been over and done with.  I was wrong. Very wrong.  The line went around the block.  I took my place and prepared myself to be there a while.  Luckily, the Labor Day parade was making its way down 5th Avenue and the music and chants of the union workers made the time pass a bit faster.  Two hours and a dirty water dog later, I finally made it into the shop.

The first thing I saw was the Alexis Mabille x GapGreyJersey bow purse (pictured below) and I was in handbag heaven.  I grabbed a purse and made my way around the shop to see all the product and tried to decide what else to get.  I decided on the bow purse, a mug and a notebook.  Some of the products were already sold out when I got there (about 4 hours into the shop being open!).  There were only a few pairs of the Repetto GapGreyJersey ballet flats and I saw a woman pick up the last of the Longchamp Pliage GapGreyJersey bags.  The Kangol GapGreyJersey (pictured below) are marked as “coming soon” on the site but they were already out.  Even though they were limiting the amount of people in the shop it was still a bit chaotic – you could feel the anxious shoppers nervously going through product and trying to decide what to get before it was snatched by someone faster.  I documented the shop as best I can and you can check out more pics of product after the jump.

The Colette x Gap is open until October 5, 2008.

Big News At Colette & New Products!

Emporium of all things très chic, Colette is getting ready for a makeover.  From July 7th to August 25th, Colette will be closing it’s doors while its interior is redesigned by Japanese architect Masamichi Katayama, famous for his work A Bathing Ape stores, BBC stores, Original Fake and Uniqlo in NYC.  While the store is getting remodeled there will be a “superette” parked out front where people can continue to shop.  Word on the street is that on August 8, 2008 there will be some great collectible releases.  The store isn’t the only thing getting a facelift, stay tuned for a website redesign as well!  Also, later on in the year, Colette is teaming up with Gap for a one-month installation store next to Gap’s NYC flagship at 54th & 5th.

The Colette e-shop was just updated with some great new product – here are my favorites!

Supreme x Oakley

It’s happened again. The brands that we grew up with are making there way back into our lives. Sure, some have still "been there" but perhaps not in the terms of "cool" or "chic". Sometimes it takes the popularity of a new brand to bring these brands back to the fashion-savvy-public-eye. And like the rise and frenzy caused by the RayBan Wayfarer, here we have Oakley teaming up with Supreme to create and yet another line-down-the-street-moment. They’re cute, I’d wear them (but if you know me, then you know I’d rather have the pair from back in the day. I am a vintage snob like that sometimes) and was ever so greatful that they weren’t the mirrored wrap style worn by the same men rocking those Zooba muscle-pants. Althought, I rock those pants today, so I can only imagine that it is only a matter of time that I will be adding wrap shades to my wardrobe. Although if you are truely cool, then you are reading this and thinking to yourself "um, I never stopped wearing Oakley. Where have you been?".
