Leather and gold with militaristic essences are the elements which makes Baptiste Viry’s Spring Summer 2010 “Social Signs” accessories collection. Formally working for Hermes before starting his own women’s ready-to-wear collection, Viry knows a thing or two about creating spectacular women’s accessories. Viry’s SS10 accessories lookbook has a feeling of masculinity, history and a sense of rawness exuding through both his pieces and photographs. This rawness is created by Viry’s use of gold and bronze metals against the luxury leathers in shades of brown, black and navy. The bow-tie clip-on necklace combination makes a big comeback for SS10, after previously being seen within Parisian Baptiste Viry’s Fall 09 collection. This time round, nautical inspired printed fabrics – such as polka dots and all over ship illustrations – are used to create these unique bow-ties necklaces. The masculine theme is carried through to the selection of belts in this collection. Taking aspects from the designs of waistcoats – from the tightening buckle at the back to the faux-slit pockets and gold button-downs – Viry has taken a traditional belt to a whole different level. The ladies at M.I.S.S. adore every piece in this collection, with the awesome photography and styling making us want a piece of Baptiste Viry in our life!
