It-Girl-Extraordinaire Roxy Cottontail (and one of M.I.S.S’s Women Making History) is back on the grind, and we’re thankful she is. After just wrapping up the Temple of Boom Tour, Roxy is re-launching her online stream Roxy Radio and dropping a new mixtape, The House of Cardio! Teaming up with DJ Van Scott to produce a sonic mashup of your favorite jams, old and new, this joint will definitely get your heart rate up and your body movin’!

The House of Cardio track listing features remixes from your favorite new artists such as Solange, and club classics like Basement Jaxx’s “Where’s Your Head At?”  Be sure to keep an ear open for Roxy’s latest single, debuting on the mixtape.  Roxy’s created the perfect mix get you motivated to get your fitness on just in time for the summer! It doesn’t really matter where you set up your grill - a backyard, rooftop, or park, as long as you have your friends and some music to carry you through the night. You already know we like to get our grill on, and thanks to Montreal based DJ crew, The Moustache Men (Classi Assi, F.U.N.K, and New Money) and DJ’s Tanner and Arem from Vancouver’s The Faction Crew delivering ”80 minutes of mellow hip hop, funk, soul and more,” we’ve got a soundtrack.

They knew they could pull something off together after meeting while on tour in Canada. The diverse playlist came to fruition through a series of emails, as the distance between the DJ’s in Montreal and Vancouver is equivalent to the distance between NYC and LA.  Put some like minded people in front of a computer and the results can be epic. Frank 151, Circa, and Shine Nightclub agreed, so they sponsored the mixtape.

Upcoming dates for the artists promoting the mixtape include, Thursday, June 4th at the Blue Dog in Montreal, where you can catch Classi Assi and F.U.N.K with a small launch at thier weekly. June 12th at Shine Nightclub in Vancouver they get busy with DJ’s Arems, Tanner, and F.U.N.K on the decks.

M.I.S.S. Techcessories: Score Gadgets on the Cheap with Fred Flare

I don’t know if you’ve heard but—the economy still sucks. I know, news to me too.  Not everyone has an extra 2Gs laying around to spend on a Dell Adamo or new iMac.  Don’t despair. The economy will get better one day (I hope…). Until then, if you’re a fashionista on a budget trying to up her tech game, M.I.S.S. has the answer for you: Fred Flare. The Brooklyn based retailer believes great design should be as “entertaining as an old musical or modern music video,” and the products they stock reflect that idea.  Best of all, it’s CHEAP!

Back in November, I hipped you all to Chester French. I’ve been seeing them pop up in more and more media outlets as of late, so I’m back to hit you all with the latest chapter in the Chester French saga. With the help of Clinton Sparks, Chester French has released their new mixtape, Jacques Jamz Vol 1: Endurance - featuring the artistry of some old faves, new hit makers, and fellow up and comers on the scene, such as Diddy, Pharrell, Talib Kweli, Lady GaGa, Mickey Factz and Janelle Monae.
