You can always expect the warm and cozy from Massachusettes brand Penfield. This Fall 09 collection is no exception to that rule. Color-blocked puffers and vests, floral print light weight outerwear pieces, color-popping bags, bags inspired by a Southwestern sunset and leather trimmed vests that offer a bit more sophistication. I usually go straight to the bold bright color but Penfield’s blk/blk Stapleton vest is speaking directly to me, the leather is a hit!
Fall 2008 was the debut collection for Modern Amusement’s Women’s collection. The ladies are lucky to finally get some of those fine tailored threads mixed with bold colors and modern graphic patterns that the gents have had the pleasure of sporting for the past 4 years. Showing at the Project show this past week in NYC, I had the pleasure to browse the Women’s F/W 09 collection. The offerings are made of fine fabrications; silks, cottons, wools, offer all the details you’d expect and the playfulness in color-combo’s and silhouettes you would imagine a brand called “Modern Amusement” would put forth. The Fall collection takes on elements worthy of “The Preppy Handbook” mixed with elements of school girl chic stirred into a vibrant array of colors and the sophistication of fine fabrics…you really can’t lose.
Dana LaRock and ya don’t stop! Comin’ at ya from the Sur Cali, Dana LaRock does the damn thang on her first ever mix tape: GoldBooms SilverBangs, The Fun Tape. And fun is what it is ya’ll! Sweetly singing about todays “Hype Kid” and calling out all those fashion boys on “Fashion $$$ Boys”, LaRock takes you for a spin on the electro-dance-step highway. This is definitely a collection of tracks that make you wanna move. With tracks produced by DJ A-Track and sounds inspired from 80’s b-boy breaks, lingerie laced Vanity 6 to today’s M.I.A. and Santogold, I think your holes of hearing will be quite pleased. This video is all about the wardrobe for me. The song is second in my opinion. I actually have never listened to the song all the way through until I watched the video. For some reason I could never get through the opening of the song, there’s something about it that irritates me instantly…oh well thankfully Beyonce’s wardrobe makes-up for that. Those metal fringe shades…I swear to gawd a version just landed on Canal St. as I’m typing this. The wardrobe roster includes Brian Lichtenberg, Franc Fernandez for Brian Lichtenberg, and Gareth Pugh to name a few.
