Earlier this month Lily Allen released a track, The Fear, from her new album It’s Not Me, It’s You that’s dropping in February. The Fear is lighthearted bubblegum pop song that highlights Lily’s sweet voice and clever lyrics. The video is eye candy for girly girls – candy, and presents and balloons. It actually felt like it was influenced by Sofia Coppola’s Miss Dior Cherie commercial and Marie Antoinette. The Fear has a bit of a different sound from her first album, but I’m definitely excited for the release of It’s Not Me, It’s You.

Last week I was excited to share my thoughts on Sofia Coppola’s ad for Miss Dior Chérie.  I finally found a clip of the commercial – you can view it here.  It’s only 30 seconds, so take the time out to see something short and sweet.

A few months back we let you know about some rumors swirling around about the possibility of Sofia Coppola directing a commercial for the Miss Dior Chérie fragrance. Tonight, as I was watching TV, I was taken by surprise by a swirl of whimsy and color, a young girl in Paris, riding a bicycle one moment, colorful balloons in hand at another moment, and grasping an oversize Miss Dior Chérie bottle. The commercial was over too soon, I could have watched it over and over. Sofia Coppola manages to hone her feminine aesthetic and vision while still maintaining that “It Girl” cool edge and not coming off as too saccharine. The music in the background is none other than French “It Girl” icon Brigitte Bardot signing “Moi, Je Joue” and “Miss Dior” is Maryna Linchuk.  I also especially love what they’ve done with the typeface – it’s a ribbon that twists and turns to spell out – Dior – so simple and cute.  There aren’t any videos of the commercial online yet, but as soon as there is, I will update the post.  In the mean time, check out photos from the ad campaign as seen in fashion magazines and hear Brigitte Bardot’s “Moi, Je Joue.”

Word on the street is that Sofia Coppola will direct the new ad campaign for Dior’s Miss Dior Chérie fragrance. The television advertising campaign will roll out in September and features the model Maryna Linchuk. I’ve always loved commercials for fragrances and I hope the rumors about this one are true. Sofia Coppola has been a fashion muse for some time now and does a great job telling stories from the women’s perspective and I would love to see what she could come up with on a fragrance campaign.Here’s some previous Dior fragrance commercials starring Charlize Theron . . .
