A while back some of the M.I.S.S. ladies went down to Miami to check out the scene during Art Basel. Beyond South Beach and bikinis, there’s a world of Miami that not may have been exposed to. Juan Herrera, Michna and Blue Logan joined M.I.S.S. to share their experiences with the other side of Miami.
Artists Sam Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III-- known collectively as Friends With You--talk about the future of the brand with M.I.S.S. TV.
Earlier in the year, we brought you exclusive behind the scene pictures of the grand opening of the first boutique belonging to legendary art and design crew Friends With You. Welcoming visitors at the Aventura Mall in Miami, the Friends With You boutique launch was a fancy and star-studded party (even Pharrell was in attendance!). Being the clever weasels we are here at M.I.S.S. TV, we were able to get our cameras into the event, talk to the crowd, and even get a peak at the dynamic design duo’s workspace. Our privilege extended to an exclusive interview with the artists about their new boutique, working in Miami, and what they have in store for the future of Malfi and other Friends With You.
Check out our exclusive coverage of the opening of the Friends With You boutique below!
He Said, She Said: Drea and Mano talk about their music, and go head to head on some important questions!
College isn’t for everyone in the long run, but thankfully Drea Smith gave it a try anyways, because that’s where the 24 year old met her musical partner in crime, wunderkid DJ Million $ Mano. Together, the two make up the rising, and largely undefinable, group He Say, She Say. While Mano is known primarily as an influential part of the Chicago hiphop-house Renaissance (shoutouts to Kid Sister!), a remixer galore, and as M.I.A.’s touring DJ, he also has a deep affinity for a diverse array of electronic-based sounds such as Daft Punk and Kraftwerk. In contrast, Drea is inspired by the holy tenants of the glam women who rock–one of her favorites is Blondie, while she also cites Depeche Mode and Chrissy Hynde as influences. Her influences are a far cry from the clubs that Mano typically rocks (in fact, I very recently danced my culo off to a recent set of his at Sway in NYC–the boy’s got skills!), but when the two combine their Wonder Twins Activate! powers, the result is a seamless blending of electro beats, glamrock sensibilities, a dash of Industrial, and Drea’s no-holds-barred NewWave-esque lyrics. He Say, She Say’s breakout hit, the emotionally sadistic “Crash Test Dummie” inspired Lupe Fiasco to sign the pair to his label, and has been catapulting the two to notoriety ever since.
Million $ Mano talks to us about his music and the Fresh Prince!
M.I.S.S. TV caught up with He Say, She Say recently in Miami, as they prepared to perform at the grand re-opening of Club Cinema. Drea and Mano clued us in on what motivates them to make music, why they are so far outside of the box that the box isn’t even in sight anymore, and the importance in life of Teen Witch! Check out our interview and live performance from He Say, She Said below, and a special bonus webisode that pits Drea against Mano when it comes to some very important issues!

Art Basel week 09 began on December 1st in Miami, and globally recognized design collective Friends With You kicked the art festival off with a bang with the opening of their brand new boutique.
