Joy Rich hearts you! Why else would they make such amazingness?  Joy Rich is a boutique in Los Angeles, on Melrose, with an eponymous clothing and accessories line.  They take the best of sportswear add just the right amount of “street” and lots of “glam.”  Inspired by all things 80s, including the luxury and pop culture brands that grew out of that era, Joy Rich has a new collection that is pure fire and will definitely keep you warm through the fall and winter months.  From tees emblazoned with references to Chanel, Nike, and super models, to puffer jackets, varsity jackets and the absolute favorites - acid wash jackets!  The collection also includes accessories from jewelry, bags and glasses.  One of the very exciting projects that Joy Rich has coming up is a collaboration with Brian Lichtenberg.  The project started out as one-offs and then it naturally progressed into a full co-branded project with a collection of t-shirts and accessories.  The jewelry features laser cut acrylic pendants in black, clear and neon pink and yellow.  They are not for people looking for something subtle to wear - these are all statement pieces - loud ones.  Joy Rich can be found at the Joy Rich boutique on Melrose.

On my most recent trip to NYC I managed to get out and about and hit up the FILA launch party for their “Melrose” sneaker. This MissBehave sponsored event had the people lined up down the block…in the rain. Big thanks to Christine from MissBehave, good looking out lady! Radio Rose held things down and provided a most excellent soundtrack for the night. All the ladies where in the house this night…ATWG, Female Sneakerfiend, Highsnobette, Bubblegum Pony and Erin from MadeMe. And of course Nina Sky. These ladies do the damn thing! More beautiful in person they held the crowd at attention as they preformed…they even got the people to “put your hands up in the air”. Um, I was busy videoing, so I opted to not “put my hands up” but enjoyed the evening nonetheless.

Here’s a sneak peek at what Fila has in store for the general release women’s collection for Spring 2009. There is much reliance on the new Melrose model sneaker that I’ve shown you in my previous Fila previews, so here we see the Melrose, and the Melrose Scarf editions, as well as two rainbowlicious metallic classic F13’s close up in full glory. These sneakers will be dropping in stores nationwide in February and March of 2009, and will retail for $70 for Melrose and Melrose Scarf models, and $65 for the F13’s. I spent a couple of hours down at Fila, checking out their Spring 09 footwear and apparel collections. The brand, which was quite popular in the 80’s and 90’s has taken quite a hit in the past decade, and in working to rebuild their brand in this country, as previously announced in Footwear News, they will be releasing a few higher profile collaborations with a celebrity, and some key hip retailers. First up, I’ve got a sneak peek at the upcoming releases for their collaboration with powerhouse Los Angeles sneaker retailer Sportie LA.

The collection consists of 3 ladies sneakers using the new high-top Melrose model, as well as 3 men’s using the classic F-13 model. The sneakers all make use of adventurous color, and themes, and many feature 3M reflective material to give them an extra pop. Two of the women’s sneakers have a splatter paint theme, and the third, an electric keystone-top motif, while the men’s follow more of a classic 8-bit video game theme.

To celebrate the opening of a new Chanel store in Los Angeles next month, Chanel is introducing 4 limited edition nail colors. Inspired by famous streets and the pop-art colors of sunny skies and surf, the polishes are called appropriately enough - Melrose, Rodeo Drive, LA Sunrise, and LA Sunset. The limited edition colors will be available in store and then online beginning in June. I need to get down to LA in May - I really need the Robertson Boulevard purple!
