Introducing The Rachel Roy Beauty: Eye Palette

Rachel Roy Beauty Eye Palette

Rachel Roy recently a group of beauty editors and bloggers to come down to her showroom and enjoy an enchanting evening of tasty treats, mini makeovers, hand massages, and a jewelry bar, all while introducing us to her latest venture and first foray into the beauty world, the Rachel Roy Eye Palette, a 10 shadow, two-brush palette, split into warm day and cool night colors with varying textures from shimmery to satin.

Rachel Roy Mini Makeover!

Rachel, who continues to be one of the sweetest, most approachable people I’ve ever met in the fashion industry took the time to tell us about her views on beauty and makeup, and aging gracefully. We learned that Rachel started her obsession with makeup at a young age, and was greatly inspired by a strong smoky eye, which she saw with much prevalence among the women on her father’s side of the family, combined with the colorful sari’s in which they dress. While applying makeup to one of the attendees, Rachel revealed to us that she does her own makeup, both every day and for events, and she uses many of the same beauty products you and I may find on our own shelves like, Dove soap, Nars lip color, Estee Lauder Turbolash mascara.

Night Look

The palette includes QR codes on the back which lead users to the Rachel Roy website for video tutorials on creating her signature, beautiful day and night looks that will compliment any complexion. The Rachel Roy Eye Palette hits Macy’s stores today, November 14th, and retails for $32.

Beauty Tip Of The Week: Summer Proof Your Makeup

Whether heat, humidity, or a combination of the two is melting your makeup during the summer months, I have some recommendations that will help keep your face in place!

(Left To Right) MAC Prep+Prime Transparent Powder-$23, MAC Prep+Prime Face Protect-$30, Urban Decay Primer Potions-$19, Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation-$50

PRIMER is designed to keep your foundation in place. It also helps smooth fine lines and the appearance of pores. MAC has done a phenomenal job with their new Prep + Prime line. I am a huge fan of their Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF 50 and their Prep+ Prime Transparent Finishing Powder. This finishing powder has me SOLD. It is by far the best translucent powder on the market right now. The finish is perfect! I use a big, fluffy brush and press it into my skin with the brush and then blend all over. It prevents me from having to powder my t-zone several times a day.

EYESHADOW PRIMERS (more specifically, Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potions) have made major breakthroughs in the last year. They prevent oily eyelids and your shadows from creasing during these hot summer days. These wonderful little tubes also come in a variety of textures and colors to give different effects to your shadows from matte to shimmer. I typically use a primer on the lids year round because I like the way a primer intensifies the color of the shadow on the lid. If you’re in a pinch and your lids are not too oily, you can try using concealer on the lids as a primer alternative.

FINISHING SPRAYS are the new final step to your makeup routine. MAC Fix + Spray is infused with face calming vitamins and minerals to help add radiance to your skin, as well as set your makeup in place!  Urban Decay‘s version, All Nighter Long Lasting Setting Spray has temperature controlling technology and moisture-resisting properties. Its claim to fame is you can cry, sweat, and get your Jacuzzi on without losing your makeup! This is a great product for the several pool parties you’ll be attending this summer!

There are two other products that I’ve fallen in love with and have become my summer go-to’s! Since I recently discovered Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation SPF 50, it has replaced my foundations and tinted moisturizers altogether. It offers translucent coverage while protecting complexions from UV rays. In addition, the foundation evens out skin tone, offers all day moisture (as well as anti-aging properties), and provides a dewy finish. Along with concealer for my under eye area, the foundation partnered up with Prep+Prime Finishing Powder has become the perfect “no-makeup” summertime  look. Top it off with NARS Cream Eyeshadow in Corfu; a beautiful shimmering taupe shade that compliments every skin tone. I love that this cream works with the heat and gives the perfect gleam to eyelids.

Now you can enjoy all of your summer events without worrying about re-applying your makeup all summer long! Cheers!

Beauty Tip of the Week: Makeup Brush 101

Makeup can be overwhelming for many of us. Different brands, colors, consistencies and textures; creams, powders, liquid, stick, sheer, full… the list goes on and on. It’s even more difficult to know which brush works best with the makeup we love. Specialized makeup brushes exist to help us apply and blend colors to create different makeup looks. If you’re still using the tiny sponge applicators in the eye shadow compacts this one’s for you! Read the full story
