M.I.S.S. JUNE 09: Vans x Kime Buzzelli

June marks the release of the Kime Buzzelli “Wellesely” Vans.  Available in two color-ways, this sneaker features the artwork of LA based artist Kime Buzzelli. Her world of fantastical ladies and gents are captured by using watered down paints and markers. She creates dream-like scenarios  “inspired by fashion, film and make believe” and has graced the Vans ‘Wellesely’ with her artwork for this June release. These sneakers are strictly for the ladies and come in the turquoise blue featured as M.I.S.S. June and in black. The collection features more than sneakers and can be viewed in our coverage of our visit with Vans at Magic this past February.

If you have recently found yourself longing for all of your old issues of Sassy Magazine or have caught yourself perusing eBay for a Caboodles case or some Lisa Frank stickers, you are not alone. Most of us start feeling an intense amount of nostalgia when we realize we are truly becoming adults, so we seek to bring back some of the products from our pasts in an attempt to recreate the good feelings we had when we were kids.

Such is the case with designer Mayuko Asano. She created a scented T-shirt line called SPIFF in 2008 based on the matching scented shirts she and her mother both used to wear when she was a little girl. Asano cherished that shirt so much as a kid that after a brief modeling stint at Elite, Asano decided to launch an entire line of tees similar to that of the one she had as a child.

The newest contribution from Asano in the world of the graphic tee is a collection called “Love Rules.” Though the construction of each shirt is pretty basic, each one contains either a fancy bow, heart, or key, all which appear be hanging from the shirt collar the same way adult-sized costume jewelry would hang on a child. The new scent on each shirt is called “destiny” – which fortunately, smells like a romantic floral rather than the destiny of a pessimistic person. A flowery smelling future that is pretty much already accessorized? Sounds perfect for a lazy girl like me.

Day 1 of the tradeshow hustle included everything from Chanel to Jeremy Scott to vintage to the most loved Doc Marten’s. Comfort is key when doing this dance. You are on your feet for hours! So unless you’ve been hired to be a tradeshow “model,” we suggest leaving the heels at the hotel . . . your feet will thank you later.

M.I.S.S. had a chance to view what Hellz-Bellz has in store for their Summer 09 delivery. As to be expected Hellz is going to bring you lots of cute silhouettes, smart graphics and bold patterns. We’re loving the short-alls with the button-down panel, a feature that’s become a HB trademark. Seems Hellz is taking a more avant-garde look with over-sized tees, 80’s cut dolman sleeved zip hoodies and the cutest gathered bubbled skirts. Times are tight, so start saving now ladies…you’re going to want it all.

From the above fav spotted at the Mishka booth to Mama keeping it classy with a gray and black french mani. The ladies for the most part kept the nail lengths on the shorter side but made up for the length in design!

Taking the word for “kiss” from each of their native languages partners Rana Shoar and Alejandra Hernandez, formed Boos & Besito…Boos comes from the Farsi language and Besito is Spanish. An eclectic mix of handmade goodies, Shoar and Hernandez offer up items made of recycled and deadstock vintage fabrics. No item retails for over $30, Hernandez explained this was a “recession reaction”…thank-you ladies, our wallets appreciate it! This was their first time showing the line and from the looks of things I think we’ll be seeing more from these ladies. From “Shoe Blooms”, fabric flowers for your footwear to bows for your hair, fringed trimmed scarves to slouchy “Booties” you’re sure to find something you love!
