Vera Wang Princess: Born to Rule

Vera Wang Princess

When M.I.S.S. was introduced to Vera Wang Princess and had an opportunity to test the scent, I jumped at the chance to try it. I have been on the search for a regular perfume, so I was especially excited when I received the free bottle to test drive. I had seen the perfume promoted in advertisements and window displays, and toting the phrase “Born to Rule” intrigued me. The Princess scent is described as:

Rule your scent and channel royalty with the new Vera Wang Princess. Radiant and whimsical, this sheer, fruity floral scent embodies the modern day princess. Vera Wang teamed up with Zoe Kravitz to create this edgy delicate fragrance, which perfectly embodies Zoe’s individuality and one of a kind spirit.

If you are looking for a sweet, floral scent to wear, try Princess. Pricing is good (you can snag a 0.2 oz Eau de Toilette Rollerball to start with for $18) and you get a cute bottle to boot. The perfume comes in a heart-shaped amulet with jeweled crown top, perfect for daydreaming of your life as a princess, or complementing your actual life as a modern-day one.

Vera Wang Princess is available in Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, and Sephora stores nationwide. An 1.7 oz. Eau de Toilette Spray retails for a resonable $57. Besides the perfume, check out the Princess scented collection of Velvety Body Butter, Satiny Body Lotion, and Foamy Body Polish. And remember: recycle your perfume bottles!

Gift Your Lover with L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers This Season

L.A.M.B. accessories for the higher-end chicks!

L.A.M.B. accessories for the higher-end chicks!

L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers just announced via press release that they are expanding with a new collection of accessories for personal electronics for Apple. Oy va voy, more ways to spend the money I don’t have! Although I’ve been a fan of L.A.M.B. since Stefani’s debut line with LeSportSac (and I still have some pieces, what!), I can also appreciate the younger demographic she is targeting with her Harajuku Lovers line. In fact, her fragrances for HL are sold in a little hat box of four this holiday season, and the gift collection is set up to look like a dollhouse! But there I go, digressing again.

The new electronics collection includes iPhone clutches, MacBook sleeves, gadget pouches, backpacks with built-in laptop compartments and a laptop tote, among other styles.

The L.A.M.B. collection, with retail prices ranging from $50.00 to $400.00, is available in the coated canvas Signature Collection and the embroidered leather Ultraviolet Collection, both of which coordinate with the handbag collections of the same names. The L.A.M.B. Ultraviolet collection will be available only at the Apple Online Store and select Apple retail stores. The L.A.M.B. Signature collection will be sold through Apple as well as Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom.

And for the younger (or cheaper) set, the Harajuku Lovers collection is made of satin-weave nylon and prices range from $30.00 to $100.00 at retail. The Harajuku Lovers collection will be available through Apple, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s.

Rachel Roy Interview & Rachel Rachel Roy Event at Macy’s

The lovely Rachel Roy

The lovely Rachel Roy

Back in May, M.I.S.S. announced Rachel Roy’s newest design project – the creation of Rachel Rachel Roy, a diffusion line sold exclusively at Macy’s. We had the chance to view the Fall 2009 collection and interview the designer herself.  Rachel Roy is as lovely as she looks.  The ideals that she puts forth in her designs – grace, femininity and strength – are all characteristics that she embodies.  It was truly a pleasure to meet a successful designer who is humble and willing to share.

The Fall 2009 collection of Rachel Rachel Roy is divided into 4 basic looks:  Street Rocker, Femme Fatale, Urban Legend and Independent Study.  Each of the looks is a bit different, but what they have in common are great details and versatility.  Many of the pieces can be worn with different outfits – and the look you get will depend on what other apparel and accessories you pair it with.  One of my favorite silhouettes is the slouchy overall – it’s the  kind of piece that I would live in.  The icing of the collection though is the accessories – some of the pieces are really new and exciting.  It seems like a lot of jewelry is looking the same these days but the Rachel Rachel Roy jewelry collection is truly unique.  From the oversize Love pendants to the rings and earrings, the pieces add just the right amount of edge to the collection.

Check out the interview with Rachel Roy and shots from the collection below.  Rachel Rachel Roy is sold at Macy’s.

Miss Saigon and Saigon Customs

Miss Saigon and Saigon Customs

If I could ask a genie in a bottle for anything, anything at all, I would probably ask him for the talent to be as artistically inclined as sneaker customizing extraordinaire Miss Saigon. Born in Vietnam circa 1974 and raised by her adoptive parents in a suburb of Paris, Miss Saigon is a force to be reckoned with on the custom sneaker circuit.
Having made her home in a variety of the worlds greatest cities, Saigon has a resume that most would kill for. Finding her love of the visual arts in London, and from there venturing to L.A. to pursue that love, Miss Saigon found herself enrolled in school studying Fine Arts. From there she made her way to the Big Apple working as a production assistant and model for the Fashion Institute of Technology, Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, and the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.

After getting married and having her first child in 1998, Miss Saigon and family moved to Philadelphia where the artist dabbled a bit in the underground music scene performing and participating in open mic sessions with the likes of Music Soulchild, Gil Scott, and Rich Medina. But the high stress of the music indusrty and her responsibilities as a mother found her right back to her roots: visual art.
Taking various jobs in the fashion industry, one of which includes Miskeen, a clothing company which hand paints their line of shirts and jeans for retailers such as Macy’s, Miss Saigon formed Saigon Customs in 2008, and shortly after became the winner of “Best Custom Themed Sneaker” during the International Sneaker Battle hosted by Funk Master Flex.

Miss Saigon is a talent that I believe many should recognize. Presently she utilizes Saigon Customs as a way to illustrate her obvious talent and artistic flair. Being featured on Female Sneaker Fiend, Sole Heaven, and Chicks in Kicks, Saigon has developed an instinctive style and eye for custom sneakers and wishes to invoke imagination to all who see them. She is looking forward to showcasing her unique line of work at artistic venues around the world, and I for one am excited to see the goodness!

On The Scene With Rachel Rachel Roy

Rachel Rachel Roy

M.I.S.S. was invited to spend some intimate time last week with designer Rachel Roy to preview and discuss her latest venture, Rachel Rachel Roy, a diffusion line for Macy’s that will be debuting this August. We sat down with a small and carefully picked group of influential bloggers to talk to Rachel about her inspiration for the new collection that will feature contemporary sportswear, footwear, accessories and handbags, and she was just about one of the sweetest and nicest people I’ve ever met. She really took the time to talk to all of us about what we do as bloggers and in our free time, and what our interests are, and was very open about herself as well.

This diffusion line is a bit of a departure from the beautiful dresses that Rachel Roy is best known for but as she walked through her favorite pieces from the line, we got to know that she continues to use some of her favorite trademarks with this collection, so that her particular aesthetic was not lost, allowing a larger audience of women to own their own piece of Rachel Roy. In particular, she continued to be inspired by bold prints, draping and fabric manipulation, off the shoulder silhouettes, trenches, short sleeved jackets, and a harmonious fusion of femininity and toughness which you can see to great effect in her accessories, footwear, and handbags. The collection will hit Macy’s stores in August, with prices ranging from $59 to $299.

Rachel Roy Explains

Read on to, check out some preview pictures of the line, from the launch party the following day, as well as video for the ad campaign, featuring Karen, super sweet and stylin’ blogger of Where Did You Get That? who joined us for our session with Rachel.

Eve Launches Fetish Line for the Fourth Time

eve

Eve is launching her clothing line, Fetish, for the fourth time this coming holiday season.  The company has switched partners a few times and suffered production and delivery set-backs, but this time it seems like things are good to go.  Fetish has a new designer on board, Arnold Williams, who has worked with Versace, Louis Vuitton, Loewe, Narciso Rodriguez and John Varvatos.

The new Fetish line is a contemporary collection with a denim focus that includes leather jackets, oversize cozy sweaters, high-waisted denim jeans and skirts, leather pants, wool shorts, subtly logo t-shirts among other items.  The line will approximately range between $150 for denim to $1,500 for leather outerwear.

The line launches for holiday and can be found at Macy’s, Up Against the Wall, Against All Odds,  Jimmy Jazz and on the Fetish site. I don’t know about you, but I think Eve should put her dreams of being a “fashion designer” aside.  I’m not seeing anything new here and I can’t tell the difference between this and Baby Phat and Rocawear.  It all looks the same to me.  I’ve been over the “celebrity designer” game for well over a minute and I think that market is beyond over-saturated.  What do you think?  Is there more room for yet another celebrity clothing line?

M.I.S.S. Michelle’s Beauty Pick of the Week: Party Proof Eyes. Get Them for Tomorrow Night!

Photobucket
Each year, my plan for New Year’s Eve is to have that perfect party outfit to match party perfect makeup. And as most of us know, New Year’s Eve festivities can go well into the wee hours of the morning, and so I like to have eye make up that can hang tough throughout, since lipstick can always be applied quite chicly, discreetly, and with a quickness in public. So my last official pick for 2007 is: Shiseido’s The Makeup Accentuating Creamy Eyeliner.
