Jeremy Scott for Longchamp Fall 09: LePilage Colonel, Sergent
For Autumn/Winter 2009, classic French accessory house Longchamp and designer Jeremy Scott have teamed up to present us with four military-inspired options. First up, a classic and tasteful twist on Longchamp’s ever-so-popular Le Pliage tote: dubbed The Colonel, this sassed-up version of the classic bag is available in navy and a gray/blue shade; each is embroidered with military medals (two on the smaller size, three on the larger).
Next is the Sergent, which features medals decorated all over the bag. The Sergent is available in a universal tote style, as well as in Longchamp’s smaller, go-anywhere Planetes design.
This mini collection is definitely appropriate for the back-to-school season, and we love the toned-down colors for autumn weather!

Earlier this month we told you about about Longchamp’s S/S 09 line - an in particular, their “It Bag.” A linen and canvas tote, the bag comes with the words “Ceci est un It Bag” (roughly translating to “This is an It Bag”) written on one side with a Trompe L’oeil outline of the label’s Légende tote printed around it. Longchamp has done a very clever and cute “It Bag” video to go along with the release. Check it out here!
As the snow starts to melt and winter finally gives way into spring, most brands usher in pieces draped in bright pastels and colorful patterns. Not so with French favorite Longchamp. Widely known for their popular Le Pliage totes, Longchamp changed the beat up this spring to offer accessories that are, well, more mature. So if you’ve been feeling that it’s time to retire your sherbert-hued Le Pliage tote, stow it away for a rainy day (or younger relative) and feast your eyes on what Longchamp’s bringing to the table this spring.
Straying from the shape of Le Pliage, Longchamp instead is debuting more geometrically-inspired designs, which work perfectly for a night out to dinner and drinks or as a substitute for a traditional briefcase. The Cosmos tote is just one example. Shown here in a multitude of colors - two-tone brown/white and brown/orange, cobalt blue, white, olive green, brown, and cream - the colors are subdued yet the cut is stylish, perfect for a working woman on-the-go. Modeled after the traditional doctor’s bag, the boxy “Legende” tote is another easily convertible piece for day-to-night use.
Injecting a bit of humor into the S/S 2009 line, Longchamp is also debuting a linen and canvas tote with the words “Ceci Est Un It Bag” on it. Also printed on the canvas of this ‘It bag’ is the outline of a Legende tote… So it’s almost like getting two bags for one!
For more information about the 2009 Catalogue and to purchase Longchamp products online, visit the brand’s Web site. Also, be sure to check out the behind-the-scenes video of models Kate Moss and Sasha Pivovarova shooting Longchamp’s S/S 2009 campaign!
And he don’t stop! Continuing in his series of Le Pilage bags for Longchamp, for his Fall 08 Collection: “Opulance”, Jeremy Scott designed this bag to look like an over-sized Amex gold card, “American Excess”…and if I’m not mistaken I see some detailing from the old school Giorgio Beverly Hills logo, mmmmhmmm. Available now at Longchamp.com, you can break out your plastic and get the gold for a cool $345. One Please!
On Saturday, September 6th, the much awaited Colette x Gap pop-up shop on 54th & 5th opened to the public at 10 am. I didn’t make it to the store until 12:30, and I figured that by that time any line would have been over and done with. I was wrong. Very wrong. The line went around the block. I took my place and prepared myself to be there a while. Luckily, the Labor Day parade was making its way down 5th Avenue and the music and chants of the union workers made the time pass a bit faster. Two hours and a dirty water dog later, I finally made it into the shop.
The first thing I saw was the Alexis Mabille x GapGreyJersey bow purse (pictured below) and I was in handbag heaven. I grabbed a purse and made my way around the shop to see all the product and tried to decide what else to get. I decided on the bow purse, a mug and a notebook. Some of the products were already sold out when I got there (about 4 hours into the shop being open!). There were only a few pairs of the Repetto GapGreyJersey ballet flats and I saw a woman pick up the last of the Longchamp Pliage GapGreyJersey bags. The Kangol GapGreyJersey (pictured below) are marked as “coming soon” on the site but they were already out. Even though they were limiting the amount of people in the shop it was still a bit chaotic - you could feel the anxious shoppers nervously going through product and trying to decide what to get before it was snatched by someone faster. I documented the shop as best I can and you can check out more pics of product after the jump.
The Colette x Gap is open until October 5, 2008.

If you read my Mirror, Mirror posts, then you know that one of my favorite bags is made by Longchamp. The leather is soft and the style is classic and functional. Whenever I use it I get complimented and it’s nice to have something a little different. Everyone is walking around with a “Never Full,” but only discerning women carry Longchamp. So, I was really excited to learn that the new Longchamp Fall collection has released. The bags look really good - there are so many that I want. New styles inclue the Cosmos, a bag inspired by early 20th century round travel bags, The LM, a vintage heritage line of bags from the 70s reissued for Longchamp’s 60th anniversary, and The Legend, new colors of their take on the physician bag. All are fabulous looking, but are functional and sturdy enough to handle the day-to-day hustle. The ad campaign, featuring Kate Moss again, is beautifully shot and features Moss looking Chic in Paris Cafés and is reminiscent of Post-WWII photos by French photographer Robert Doisneau. The bags can be purchased online or in fine Longchamp boutiques worldwide. Check out the video look book starring Moss below and many more pictures of my favorites from the collection after the jump . . .
French handbag company, Longchamp, is coming up on it’s 60th Anniversary and to celebrate the occasion it’s teamed up with Belgian artist Jean-Luc Moerman to produce a limited collection designed by the artist. The large tote is based on a bag design from the 1970s archive and no two bags will be the same since they are hand silk screened - the uniqueness is reflected in the price tag - a hefty $6,500. If you can’t afford the originals, a set of reproduction bags will be available for sale. An installation of the bags can be viewed at the Anniversary Party on July 2nd in Paris at the L’Elysée Montmartre in Paris where The Kills are performing. Longchamp is hosting a celebration state-side at its NY flagship in conjunction with Deitch Projects on Bastille Day, July 14th. I’m a big fan of Longchamp and one of my favorite bags is one of their leather tote bags from 2006. Their style is timeless and classic and makes a welcome addition to any bag collection. Happy 60th! Very excited to see what’s more to come!

Jeremy Scott has released another collaborative Pliage bag with French bag company Longchamp. The bag is a very clever play on a “gold” card. I really like this one but I think I might like the one with the footprints all over it the best. You can check out his footprint bag here and his pink poodle bag here. Which do you like best?
