M.I.S.S. PROJECT: Linda Farrow at NYFW

Linda Farrow's upcoming line of sunglasses

Linda Farrow's upcoming line of sunglasses by Alexander Wang

Linda Farrow showcased her Spring 2010 line of eyewear at Project in Las Vegas – and this week you can see some of the styles featured here on the runway during Mercedes Benz New York Fasion Week.

Linda Farrow has been doing her effortlessly glamorous thing i.e. delivering gorgeous sunglasses under the umbrella of her eyewear label since the 1970s. Sunglasses became popularized in the 1930’s as celebs hid their identity behind dark shades from the unforgiving lenses of the paparazzi…with Linda Farrow, you’re going to want to immortalize every moment you spend looking your best. Yes, spring 2010 is a stand-out season, and, based on these images, your shades will be center piece.

Linda Farrow has some sick glasses that will have you wishing the sun were always blazing, if you weren’t already doing so! Not to name drop, her shades have been seen on the likes of Kate Moss, Kanye West, Madonna, among many others who have an avant-garde taste for eye wear. All those who haven’t yet had  the privilege to do so don’t necessarily fall into the ”out of touch” category, mind you, it just means that they have settled thus far for the collection images that have graced the pages of magazines such as Teen Vogue, Nylon, to name a few. But, it’s never too late, to start a good thing.

Also, Farrow  collaborated with designer Alexander Wang to create such magic as vintage inspired wayfarer sunglasses (a M.I.S.S favorite) with zipper detailing along the front and side. Black is the predominant color in this collaboration whose edge factor and rock & roll essence has clearly reached phenomenal heights.

In the 1990s, emerged a clothing line called Wild and Lethal Trash created by Walter Van Beirdendonck. Luckily for the general public, he put his stamp on the Linda Farrow’s spring ’10 line as well. This collaboration birthed the goggle lenses and shades that appear as if you can pull the shades right off the top (see below in the gallery).

The fashion fairy at Linda Farrow foresees small round frames for men a la Lisa Bonet during her Cosby days, and for women, big square and wayfarer variations! Big things poppin’ indeed.

Barbie’s 50th Anniversary @ Colette

Barbie has had quite the anniversary buzz celebrating her big 5-0. And who could do it better than the always glamorous lady herself? From fashion shows that have honored the four decade glam doll to deluxe items designed in admiration of her success, I have got to say being plastic pays off.

If you happen to be in Paris, France March 9th-28th check out Barbie’s birthday celebration at Colette. At this boutique will be all things that credit the bombshell’s success. If it’s anything like a Barbie dream world there has got to be lots and lots of pink oh and a delicious looking Ken!!

Exclusive designs for the Barbie collection by Jeremy Scott and products from Bless, Goyard, Azumi & David, and Uslu Airlines will be available.

Also listed for the anniversary is the release of limited edition products from designers selected by Colette- Married to the Mob, Bruno Frisoni, Alexis Mabille, Barbie Rocks of Beverly Hills, Jawbone, Domestic, and Linda Farrow.

Dylan’s Candy Bar sweets (btw, chocolate is my weakness) and special edition Le Baiser dessert by Laduree will make tasty treats for the celebration!

Guest can also enter the gallery of “Barbie and Ken” by Karl Lagerfeld. Images of Barbie and Ken (portrayed by model Baptiste Giabiconi) can be found here, and let me say they are so adorable. If you are one who has collector’s fetish, the photos in the gallery will be available for purchase.

Be sure to check out all the collabo’s from designers selected by Colette and Stila cosmetics.

Goodness, if I had the money and a passport I would book my flight TONIGHT!!!!

M.I.S.S. VEGAS 02.09: Linda Farrow at Project

Linda Farrow at Project

A few months back I posted about Linda Farrow, a brand founded in the 70s by Linda Farrow, was resurrected by Linda’s son in 2003 when he found a stash of his mother’s deadstock vintage frames. The brand has an impressive account list, press and celebrity following and they are adding to their pedigree by teaming up with some of the world’s leading fashion designers to create really unique, whimsical eyewear.  At Project, we got up close and personal with frames designed by the likes of Luella, Jeremy Scott, Matthew Williamson and Yohji Yamamoto.  The frames are of exceptional quality and you can see each designer’s personality come through in each capsule collection.  Luella’s frames have a bit of a retro edge with cateye shapes that are girly and fun.  Jeremey Scott surprises us with large over size frames and another pair that comes complete with attached visor!  Matthew Williamson’s frames evoke 1970’s glamazons – I could see Farah Fawcett wearing these styles in Charlie’s Angels.  Finally, Yohji Yamamoto’s frames under the prototype* label were simple but the metal work details don’t make these your average frames.  All of the frames pictured will be hitting retail shelves in March and April.  Read the full story to see photos of frames by all the designers mentioned above.

I Wear My Sunglasses At Night . . .

linda farrow rodarte
Linda Farrow for Rodarte

I’ve always been a big fan of glasses since I need to wear them to see but this Spring the eyes are taking the cake. There are an endless amount of options with retro throwbacks like Ray Bans and Lolita heart glasses playing a big part. Linda Farrow Vintage, a brand founded in the 70s by Linda Farrow, was resurrected by Linda’s son in 2003 when he found a stash of his mother’s deadstock vintage frames. The brand has an impressive account list, press and celebrity following and they are adding to their pedigree by teaming up with some of the world’s leading fashion designers to create really unique, whimsical eyewear. I don’t normally wear my sunglasses at night, but if I had any of these, I may have to start.
