Ever since Chloé’s SS10 collection dropped last Fall I can’t get the image of MacGibbon’s denim clad model out of my mind. The head-to-toe-look from the tucked in Chambray to the slim fit jeans, not to mention the contrasting patches/shades of denim has stained my brain! So this post is dedicated to the Chambray shirt. And yes, it’s the same shirt your Dad might wear to work on “Casual Friday” but how you work it is all up to you. Go over-sized or kid sized for a shrunken look. But stay with a classic style, this way when the trend hits again you’ll be ready. There is no need to run out and drop ton$$ on a Chambray shirt. Here are some classic selections that don’t break the bank. You could even get a little crafty with it and get a seam ripper from the fabric/sewing supply store and remove the pockets alá Chloé! AND AND AND!! If you want to save even more hit up your local secondhand shop and hunt down a used version…no shame in that game! Spring is coming and she wants you to be ready!

Hannah Stouffer for Vans

Hannah Stouffer for Vans

Hannah Stouffer for Vans

Los Angeles based illustrator Hannah Stouffer finds a great deal of comfort in imagery. It’s an admiration that is often times overwhelming. With an infatuation for icons and images that reflect and categorize historical eras, genres and subcultures her work is an opulent, elegant and beautifully intricate mixture of illustration and design. She focuses on the contrast between periods in time, subcultures and social and social trends and merges them together with a high regard for traditional decoration.

Just when we thought that Miss Hannah had an impressive client list (seriously, peep game yourself), she upped it again, this time with Vans! I am feeling these in a very big way!  No release date yet, however, we just wanted to give our readers the heads up on what is about to hit the streets.

To learn more about Hannah, check out her Women Making History Interview.

Shepard Fairey Obey Collaboration With Levi’s Times Square Event

Shepard Fairey Obey x Levi's: Time Square Installation

Shepard Fairey Obey x Levi's: Time Square Installation

Famed street artist Shepard Fairey has made his mark all over the world with his signature Obey logo, which has landed in places like Tokyo, New York, Mexico City, London, Madrid and practically every nook and cranny that you would least expect to see the artists mark. I remember seeing his work in Vancouver, B.C.  once, but someone decided to take it down!  That was the only time I’ve seen his street art in person. Very inspiring to have finally seen something of his in person. Very bummed to see it go.  Anyway, Levi’s invited Fairey to take part in the design process of a collection centered around the Obey trademark. To observe this special occasion Levi’s welcomed Shepard Fairey to their flagship store located in New York City’s Times Square district. Shepard was putting up wheatpastes in front of a very jovial crowed cramped audience in front of the Levis campus.  I can’t even image how this must look in person at night with the lights of Time Square gleaming on the posters. If you can make your way to see this in person, go! Check out the rest of the images below.

M.I.S.S. Techcessories: LG Xnote Mini X120 Levi’s Special Edition

LG Xnote Mini X120 Notebook Levi's Special Edition not a pair of jeans

American brands have a tendency of saving their doper collaborations for foreign markets, depriving their own countrymen of the sweet, sweet good stuff.  Add Levi’s to that entirely too long list.  The company that has probably put a pair of jeans on the ass of every man, woman, and child around the world at various points in its history has joined forces with Korean electronics giant LG to produce this limited edition LG Xnote Mini X120.

Levi's even designed this snazzy matching case. How thoughtful!

While the notebook features the same 10.1” WSVGA LED screen, Atom processor, and  gigabyte of RAM and 160 GB hard driveof its predecessors, it’s the drawing of the back of a pair of Levi’s adorning the top cover that makes it special.  That and the denim sleeve it also comes with. Available….never, unless you happen to live in Korea or feel like taking a trip halfway across the world.  If so you can pick up one of the 2,500 set to be available on July 24th for the next 28 days only.

An aged denim, these babies are straight leg, come in black, white, and blue and aren’t for the faint hearted!

Head over to Fruition Las Vegas to pick up a pair. Show a little leg!

Sneak Peek: Levi’s Helps DKNY Celebrate 20 Years

Sneak Peek: Levi’s Helps DKNY Celebrate 20 Years

Levi’s helps DKNY Celebrate 20 Years.

Levi’s helps DKNY Celebrate 20 Years.

Donna Karan launched DKNY 20 years ago, and it all started with a pair of jeans.  To celebrate it’s 20th Anniversary, DKNY has teamed up Levi’s to create 3 new styles:  a wide leg, skinny jean and boyfriend style. Patti Cohen, the executive vice president of global marketing and communications at Donna Karan International stated, “For our 20th birthday we wanted to celebrate this milestone with a unique American icon.”  Each style is available in different washes including white, black, dark and light blue.   The new collection will hit shelves in the next few weeks at Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, Lord & Taylor and Macy’s and retail for $225.  I think this collaboration makes perfect sense – two iconic American brands working together to create an iconic American closet staple – the perfect pair of jeans.  I’m looking forward to seeing these in person and I hope DKNY was able to tweak the fit a bit since Levi’s tend to fit a bit awkwardly.  Knowing DK, she surely put her personal touch on it.

My Two Cents: The Levi’s “Onion Peel” Commercial

I came across this Levi’s ad online and was swept away by it immediately. It’s filmed “backwards” and takes you back through time in the day of a model. The ad starts at a fashion show and ends with a couple sharing an intimate moment, forgetting about the world around them, and lost in themselves. It’s called “The Onion” because you start at the end to peel back the layers to get to the core of the message, but after viewing it a few times, I think they should call it “The Kiss.” On a side note, this commercial seemed even better to me in light of the awfulness that Wrangler put out a few months ago.

LA: PAPER Magazines 24 Hour Department Store

I love the idea of 24 hour shopping. 24 hour anything really, let the people decide when they want to do what they want to do. So Paper Magazine is bringing it to the people of L.A. once again with their “24 Hour Department Store”. Tons of brands from Jeremy Scott to Converse will be posted up from 6 p.m. tonight to 6 p.m. Saturday night. And as an added punch to this 24 hour shopping par-tay, there will be 24 bands/performers keeping the energy up! Go cop some vintage from Screaming Mimi’s or Fruition at 2 a.m. and an ice cream sandwich from Heartschallenger at noon cause you can!

Location: 8873 Sunset Blvd. LA
