Today we honor Mae Luksanapol, aka Ill P, a lady of many talents. She is the founder, event planner, and resident DJ of the infamous bi-weekly Ill Party Wednesdays event in NYC. Ladies Night at Ill Party is known to be one of her staple events, a very special night created by the ladies FOR the ladies with amazing giveaways & an all-female talent roster. In addition to her roles as an event promoter and an established female DJ, this Thai native (raised in Queens) is also a freelance graphic designer. At Yours Truly, Mae is the go-to girl & right-hand woman for the company and does a little bit of everything for the brand.

A devoted and professional DJ, Ill P’s craft is shown all throughout her party rocking sets. With the unique blends of hip hop (old school and new), R&B, and reggae sounds; her mixing shows versatility and an extensive passion for music. With her every set she proves that female DJs don’t lack talent and aptness to play on vinyl. She holds a residency at the Delancey every other Wednesday nights with DJ Teddy King & at Katra Lounge every other Thursday nights with DJ Jon Blak. Ill P is always holding it down & repping it for the ladies and all those that show her love.

The Boston-based female urban art collective spearheaded by Kim Harris & Shayna Shenanigans is hosting their second Paint Pens In Purses event tonight in Boston. Along with seeing art by female artists in their collective, the night will be filled with gift bags, question and answer with the artists, drinks and tasty bites, among other goodies.

“Paint Pens in Purses” is a series of all-female urban art shows gaining its start this year! Shayna Yasuhara believes we are in the early stages of a new art movement which will and must involve the touch of female artists. The first show of the series, which features works by Nineta, Lichiban, Morgan Thomas, Kim Harris, Heather McGrath, illy L, and Shayna Shenanigans, will take place at Via Matta on August 6th. The series will continue throughout the fall at more venues including: LAB in Allston, and Middlesex Lounge in Cambridge.

We’re happy to introduce the newest ladies line on the block - Seduce and Destroy, a line produced by a Boston-based design team, is  as much a battle cry as it is a clothing line. It represents the confidence, prowess, and empowerment that women everywhere should  utilize to reach their goals.
