So, you know how there are those movies and songs and even foods that you can watch/listen to/taste over and over again and still be completely geeked out on each and every single time, as if it was the first time? Apparently, that feeling extends to live performance too, because I saw Brooklyn-based rapper/singer/harmonious hero Theophilus London perform live for the 7th time at this year’s South by South West Festival, and it was every bit as much of the ass-kicking (but in a good way!) experience as the first time I’d seen him live about a year or two ago.
Performing at the Green Label Sound Showcase at Club Deville on the festival’s Friday night, Theophilus London followed Tanlines with a full-bodied, show-stopping performance– literally, I think just about every single part of my body was jumping in the air right along with Mr. London as he performed hits “Humdrum Town” and “Always Love You” (Remix). Theophilus also dropped a few brand-new samples from his upcoming mixtape for the eager, dancing crowd, including the track “Goes On Without You”.
Teaming up with Revery Media, M.I.S.S. sat down with Theophilus London before his set and chopped it up about what it was like to be at the mecca of all things music, SXSW, how much he enjoyed interacting with his fans, and the two-month relationship that inspired new mixtape “I Want You” (which is rumored to be a bit of an ode to this lovely young lady).
Take a peek below at our exclusive intro to Theophilus London at SXSW, including live performance from the Green Label Sound Showcase. Also make sure to check out the gallery of our exclusive pics from the event, as photographed by Sara Haile.
I was first “introduced” to Kesh via thee MySpace a couple of years ago. At the time it was her “KESHirts” that caught my eye (and her insanely huge hair…I kinda luv insanely huge hair). Her “KESHirts” are super limited t-shirts she would design and sell via myspace and word of mouth. Rocked by the likes of Lupe Fiasco and Kanye, they would sell-out fast every time! This talented young lass (she recently turned 22) is a self-made star! A model, dj (she rocked it at the Jeremy Scott Adidas Fashion show in Paris and can be seen doing her thing out and about across the Globe), graphic artist and fashion designer, she’s doing it big in both London and NYC. This past Fashion Week in NY, she was asked to present a collection for SS09. She had twelve days to whip something up, which for some might seem like an arduous task but this gal has been known to bust out a frock in a half hours time and rock it that same night….soooooooo, twelve days, provided her plenty of time to create a collection, a menswear collection no doubt! Tailored pants are serious business! Put on by The Fader and held at The Anonymous Gallery, peep her tech in these videos!
For those who know…And if you didn’t know, now you do and don’t forget who put you on The Lady Keshia has got it going on and if your lucky, maybe you can get one of her tees…sign-up and act fast, ya heard!?!?
