He’s turning me. College Candy knows what I mean.

Retna x Mac: Vagos y Reinas at the Robert Berman Gallery September 26 - October 18, 2009
The dynamic duo Retna and Mac are back again and even better than ever with their new collaborative exhibit Vagos y Reinas showing September 26-October 18, 2009 at the Robert Berman Gallery. The title of the show, which translates to “vagrants and queens”, brings together the street-infused styles of Retna, who is best known for his abstract embellishments and calligraphic font, with Mac who is well known for photo-realist approach and use of spray paint. These large scale pieces document their journey together with beautiful depictions of women and homage to neighborhood pride. The two have collaborated on more than 20 murals in the past, but this will be their first ever exhibit together. In the world of art (especially graffiti art), collaborations are almost always a good thing. Retna and Mac bring some of the most memorable and incredible street art indoors with this exhibit. If you’re in Santa Monica, be sure to check it out!

Cassette Rainbow Print by Matt Whitwell
Matt Whitwell is young artist from Wellington, New Zealand finishing a BFA at Massey School of Fine Arts. He is heavily influenced and inspired by reducing, reusing, recycling, and reappropriation of materials. His print Cassette Rainbow is evidence of that. This print brings back memories of sitting in front of the boom box being surrounded with dozen of tapes just like the ones pictured above. This print is now available at L’Affiche Moderne’s website.

Women Making History: Leah McSweeney of Married To The Mob
When conjuring up thoughts of “heavy hitters” in women’s streetwear, there’s a 95% chance this lady’s name will hit the dome within 3 seconds…and if it doesn’t…well, then you’ve been somehow misinformed.
Leah McSweeney is one hardcore lady, and the slogans she comes up with for her clothing brand Married to the Mob illustrate this point quite nicely! Among them are “Other Bitches Just Front”, “Money Over Bitches”, “Bitch Better Have My Money”, “DILLIGAF: Do I Look Like I Give a Fuck?”, and “Most Official Bitches Reign Supreme”. While it’s clear no one should mess with Leah, EVERYONE and their mothers were trying to mess with the exclusive Reebook Freestyles she designed with Colette (only 350 pairs produced!) and the Chanel-inspired Nike Dunk Hi Supremes that came complete with MOB lacelocks. M.I.S.S. Crew would like to give a warm shout-out to Leah, who, since 2004, has been committed to make some of the freshest clothing for women out there.
Fafi x MOB
Well put Randi! After the jump, we continue to honor Leah as today’s Woman Making History! Jump!
10 years ago MJ debuted his now famous “Mouse Flats” and in celebration he has teamed up with one of our favorite artists KAWS to collaborate on a version of the shoes. In true Kaws style you get the “x’d” out eyes and the scalloped chomped detail around the edge of the shoe. The shoe drops this Monday Sept 29th and will be available at Colette in Paris, Original Fake in Tokyo, and MJ stores in London and the US. With only 200 pairs made . . . we wish you luck! Better start lining up now.
Dover Street Market does it again. They just released some amazing new product that I’m sure folks will be clamoring for including a DSM x Kaws t-shirt, Comme des Garçons Tartan Wallets and the iconic Lewis Leather Motorcycle Jackets re-fabricated in unusual and interesting woven fabrics. As usual, many of these products are exclusive to DSM so you can either get some of the stuff online or you’ll have to go to London town.
A while back, M.I.S.S. Busy Lady Baca reported on the Kaws x CDG wallets dropping at Colette. Just in time for the holidays, Dover Street Market has the collection as well and, in addition, we have some pictures of the tees and messenger bags. This collection is crazy – it’s not everyday that collabos come out as good as this one – and it’s one of those things that I really feel I need in my life. Lucky for us, you can purchase online here. Whether it’s a gift for someone else, or for yourself, this is guaranteed to make the recipient very happy. Happy Shopping!Image & Info: Dover Street Market
This makes me very happy and there are very few things, product wise, that make me happy as of late…as everything is so over-the top and over-exposed and who’s wallet can possibly keep up with all the “cool” stuff that drops so frequently? Really, there was a time when “limited” meant just that and when getting things like BAPE meant going to Japan not your corner store…”Yeah, gimme a 40 of Olde E, a pack of gum and some Bapestas, size 10″, huh? I digress, and obviously have some issues with the current state of certain hyped things, we can talk about that at some other time. Back to what makes me HAPPY!! Comme des Garçons has teamed up with legendary graffiti artist KAWS for a limited edition series of leather wallets, mens & womens t-shirts, wool bags & fragrance sets. These items will be available for sale starting Nov. 15th at Colette and Colette.fr and then from Nov. 24th at Comme des Garçons, Dover Street Market, and OriginalFake. I am doing my happy dance as I type this, YAY!
