Toofly x Kidrobot Dunny Fatale
Unfortunately this will be Toofly’s official last Dunny! So hopefully you’ve snagged the ones that were released before (I know I did, except the 8 inch sadface) and hopefully you won’t sleep on these ones and a chance to grab a piece of vinyl art history.
Elevated high above the tumultuous Sea of Love stands the home of this world’s foremost collector of exotic sea creatures, the gajillionaire Old Man Cruikshank. Cruikshank had sent a special invitation to the three bravest sailors known in whisper and legend, The Seafarers. And an invitation from Old Man Cruikshank is not something one turns down…and so the Seafarers’ adventure began.

Chubby Books Series I: Julie West
Check out the message below from pinkghost, intro-ing their amazingly-cute “chubby book” artist series!
At pinkghost we are long time fans of round & chubby things. We actually list it as one of our interests. When the opportunity to create our very first product came along we knew it would have to be cute, round and chubby. That was one of the main requirements but there were many more. The second most important requirement would be that the product had to be based on amazing and beautiful art that we collected, respected and admired. Hence, we decided to work with the artists of Chubby Books Series I: Julie West, Helena Garcia & 64 Colors.
The idea of the Chubby Book was the result of being unable to settle for a sketchbook, journal or postcard book. We wanted to do all three but could just start by producing one product. So we mashed all three into one fat, cute, rounded corner book.
Artist Chubby Books are 250 page Hardcover books including 10 artist designed postcards, 100 lined pages and 150 sketch pages. Artist Chubby Book Series I includes: Julie West, Helena Garcia & 64 Colors. Series I will be officially released Saturday, September 5, 2009 in store and online (www.pinkghost.net). Chubby Books at signings include a pinkghost keychain while supplies last. Yay!
Next up is an exhibit that’s sure to amaze! Roy Nachum’s paintings are truly incredible. View more images on Flickr and check out the press release info below:
August 22 – September 16, 2009
Opening Reception: Saturday August 22, 6-9pm
At first glance the paintings by Roy Nachum can easily be confused with digital art. However, his works are actually oil paintings on canvas that are painted in a way that spurs the viewer to investigate further. Nachum creates his images by utilizing the idea of pixels. Each ‘pixel’ is painted one-by-one. The end result is a painting that comes together in a unique manner. Nachum describes this as creating micro worlds that come together in order to form the pattern of a single reality or of a dream.
This different technique also creates the desire of a physical approach to the piece, inviting people to feel and touch every pixel, experience the virtual and physical coming together in one unique moment. Influenced by everything that surrounds Nachum examines daily behaviors of different people, what makes them do the things they do and why– what they take for granted and why they do so. Thought, making and results – this is the origin of Nachum’s inspiration.
Roy will be in attendance

The other day I came home to a very pleasant surprise: A large box from STRANGEco. I was so excited, rushed into my flat and tore open the package. Tucked neatly inside the box were these little lovelies by Jule West. They have the sweetest faces and are an adorable addition to my vinyl toy collection. Merci STRANGEco!
This year, Hasbro has been celebrating the 25th Birthday of the iconic My Little Pony brand in a myriad of ways including re-releasing some 1983 and 1984OriginalPonies. The big quarter centurial celebration culminates with “The MY LITTLE PONY Project: 25 Ponies for 25 Years gallery exhibition, which I went to check out on Thursday, here in NYC. The Project features 18 inch ponies that have been designed by celebrities, artists, and young fans, to be auctioned off by CharityFolks.com to benefit Give Kids The World Village, a nonprofit organization that provides week-long vacations to Central Florida to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
Among the included were works by artists Claw Money, Junko Mizuno, Tokidoki, Junie Moon, Catalina Estrada, Tado and Klor, and celebrities Kimora Lee Simmons, John Stamos, David and Courteney Arquette, LeAnne Rimes, Deborah Gibson, and Leah Remini. Worldwide fans from the tender age of 4 to 26, and from far and wide as Australia, Ireland and the U.S. were also chosen to get in on the action through a previously held contest.
As a young lass I wasn’t much of a fan of typical girly toys, but to be completely honest, My Little Ponies were the exception. My weakness. In fact, I recently rescued my collection of OG Ponies from my parents house so they wouldn’t wind up at the Salvation Army when I wasn’t looking! So you can imagine my pleasure to attend this event and see these magnificent works, and some of the old fillies in mint condition!
These ponies will be up for auction on Charity Folks.com until Oct. 2, with prices starting at $150 for the ponies of the contest winners, $250 for celebrities, and $500 for artists.
I spotted M.I.S.S. Crew fave Claw Money in attendance and took the opportunity to snap a flick of her with her pony.
I’ll show you two of my favorites, and we’ll take a full roll call after the jump!
I loved the precise and intricate painted and beaded works of Catalina Estrada and 10 year old contest winner Sofia de Santiago Palomares Hoffman from D.F. Mexico

Yesterday in NYC, JanSport threw a launch party featuring the live tunes of Digable Planet’s Ladybug Mecca, and J. Boogie and debuted it’s latest collection of limited edition artist designed bags, featuring the art of UK artist Julie West and LA based grafitti artist JoeX2. Previous collections have been limited to backpacks, but with this collection we see messenger bags, and expandable upright luggage bags thrown into the mix with marvelous result. These bags will be released to stores in April 2008, but you can still find the winter collection in stores now. Check JanSport.com for product information and to find your local retailer for the series. Artist bios, inspiration and more photos after the jump.
