Jimmy Choo Introduces Sneakers

Jimmy Choo Sneakers

Jimmy Choo Sneakers

From creating fierce 4 inch luxury stilettos to an H&M collaboration in Fall 2009, designer Jimmy Choo adds sneakers to his portfolio. With the kicks pricing at about $500 a pair, most of us will have to save up for them the same way we would for his glam pumps.

The Jimmy Choo pre-Fall 2010 collection will showcase 8 luxury trainers alongside the heels the line is known for. The sneakers come in both low and high tops made with suede and snakeskin. With the styles available at retail starting in May, it’s possible fashionistas can run around next season’s fashion week in Choos without worries of snagging a heel in a subway grate.

Eyes To The Sky, Ears To The Street: The Hotness & The Hot Mess 2009.

Eyes To The Sky, Ears To The Streets: The Hotness & The Hot Mess 2009

2009 proved to be a wild ride for most. With the economy in a state of craze, the “Recessionista”  was born and fashion savvy ladies were challenged to get creative and spend wise, perhaps looking towards one of the million high-low collaborations that launched this year or going green with vintage. We welcomed new style icons from lady-like First Lady Obama to the polar opposite goo-goo get-ups of Lady GaGa. Ed Hardy continued to bring shame to the House of Swarovski (crystals) while our favorite no-pants-wearing New Yorker Kerin Rose dazzled us with bling-blam-BONG! eye wear and her line, A-morir, bedazzling done proper. Green became the new grey in the world of nails diding and Minx made the Midas touch a reality. Gals all over the globe went TKO for OTK boots and the motorcycle jacket secured it’s place as a fashion staple. Why Linsay Lohan was appointed Artistic Advisor of anything, namely Ungaro, is beyond me. And let’s PLEASE leave “Jeggings” in 2009.

What will you take forth in 2010 and what will you leave behind?

The Link List: 11.1.09

The_Link_List

Twenty five links today, and some of this is late. Let’s just pretend I’m early for next year cuz  I’m a total hallo weenie.

Ladies, Halloween is often an excuse to dress and act like a trollop. We at M.I.S.S. hope you kept it classy.

This is not what black people look like on the inside, they’re solid chocolate skulls cast from real skulls. via Neatorama.

Halloween inspiration taken from the S/S 2010 runways on The New Wave.

It’s definitely too late and not worth your time to do an ill halloween display this year, but bookmark Haunt Project and get a jump on inspiration and plans to make things like eyeball doorbell buzzers for next year.

Still need a costume? Only have access to makeup? Here’s a DIY Sailor Moon Makeup Tutorial via Fashion Indie.

Stand in Vagina Power and manifest your destiny with the HILARIOUS Alexyss Tylor Vagina Power Halloween Edition. This woman is a national treasure and has quotes for days.

Chinese Cat Girl. This is not a halloween costume.

The halloween costume here on Street Carnage of a woman giving birth to herself is simultaneously one of the best and worst things I’ve seen in a  minute.

The lesbian, oft topless, christian rappers Yo Majesty get freaky in their new song and video Freaks Come Out, and I don’t know if I should give this halloween colored hearts or not.

♥♥Downloady: Imogen Heap’s cover of Michael Jackson’s Thriller from Sheena Beaston.

♥♥ High Snobiety had the haps on a Mini Cooper Krink customized in Hamburg, Germany.

♥♥Mash Kulture put us on to the Jimmy Choo for H&M video with Tamara Mellon.

♥♥ This dude David Brownings creates kicks entirely out of paper, and they’re pretty fresh. He even made MF Dooms.

♥♥James Franco for Gookie (or is that Gucci?) on Style.com. It’s Funny!

♥♥Why is Eva Mendez so freakin fly? It’s really not fair. Dazed Digital put us on to a video trailer of  her embodying iconic female images in the history of art for a film by Francesco Vezzoli on Eluxury.com.

♥♥Suzie Bubble. Style Beast. She didn’t do em, but you know you can DIY these fringe and feather boa pumps. You know it.

♥♥Hell yeah, Nylon has a DIY for that hot Purply-neutral shade of polish that came down the runway at Chanel Spring 2010, and won’t be out for three months. Beat your friends to it. Like, pummel.

♥♥And Tracie Egan from Jezebel is just about ready to get married and she shows us how she DIY’d her wedding invitations on her blog One D At A Time.

♥♥Kelly and Regis play Rachel Zoe and Rodge on Live. Via Fashionista.

♥♥Black Not Black is a new blog concept. They don’t believe in black and white.

♥♥The dude from Pretty Much Amazing has a new short form Tumblr called Famous Sounding Words. It’s pretty much what  it sounds like, with pictures, and I pretty much like it.

♥♥I hope that by now you know about the hilarious website Regretsy which mocks some of the most rediculous and hideous stuff on Etsy. Something told me to check it earlier this week at like, 3 in the morning, and blaow! an item made by a friend of mine was posted!  Yes, it looks like poo/period, but she also makes very AWESOME reflective leggings, so whatever, I hope she sons them with some sales.

♥♥Whether or not you ever had feelings *down there* about old school WWF wrestlers, you will probably find this picture of Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior on Ignored Prayers amusing.

♥♥Would you put this kooky leg lighting fixture I found on Fashion Week Daily in your house?

And finally, did you hear Andre Agassi did Crystal Meth and wore a weave? on Coco Perez.

Reading Is Sexy: Fifty Shoes & Fifty Dresses That Changed the World

Fifty Dresses That Changed the World

Fifty Dresses That Changed the World

London’s Design Museum, the world’s leading museum devoted to contemporary design released two books: Fifty Dresses That Changed the World and Fifty Shoes That Changed the World. The books take you on a virtual historical tour through the ages highlighting the most significant designs in each category.

Fifty Dresses That Changed the World include notable greats from Coco Chanel, Madeleine Vionnet to Hervé Léger and Gianni Versace. Famous faces from Jacqueline Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn grace the pages in dresses that are all too familiar to us. Who doesn’t think of that famous photo of Marilyn Monroe and her white halter dress and she stands over a subway vent? Each dress selected has made it’s own mark on fashion history and has a brief description as to how it came to be, and what is impact on fashion was.

Fifty Shoes That Changed the World

Fifty Shoes That Changed the World

Fifty Shoes That Changed the World explores the most important footwear designs of the last 150 years. From Jimmy Choo to Manolo Blahnik and Nike Jordan I’s to Dr. Martens boots, all manner of footwear are included in this time line. It’s interesting to see how the materials changed throughout the years from the canvas Plimsoll to Melissa’s plastic dreams. Don’t expect to only see pretty shoes in this book – since it covers footwear that made an impact on footwear design and history – unfortunate models like Crocs and Uggs are included. We won’t hold it against them though, they did leave their mark, albeit a not-so-pretty one.

Fifty Dresses That Changed the World and Fifty Shoes That Changed the World are great stocking stuffers or gift ideas for the fashion lover/design guru/history buff in your life. The books retail for $20 and are for sale at Barnes & Noble, Borders, Amazon and Urban Outfitters, along with some smaller retailers.

Practical Luxury: Jimmy Choo x Hunter Wellington Boots

Jimmy Choo x Hunter Wellington Boots

Jimmy Choo x Hunter Wellington Boots

It’s a sign of the times. Although the $395 price tag says different. Here’s a pair of Choo’s that won’t break the bank. Jimmy Choo has teamed by with Hunter Wellington Boots to create this lux moc croc pair of “Wellies”. Hunter boots were originally designed for walking in Scotland’s rugged terrain and combating its unpredictable weather. Now ladies have another lux rainboot option for splashing around those big city puddles. With the state of today’s economy we’ll be seeing luxury brands offering up more mainstream and usable products. Luxury will become more practical…now that just almost doesn’t make sense…practical luxury? Times are tough and even the big guys have to roll with the punches. Get yours this June at Jimmy Choo stores, on-line and at select retailers.

There’s No Place Like Home . . .

Stills from the film The Wizard of Oz.  Sketches of the ruby slippers from left to right:  Jimmy Choo, Betsey Johnson, Moschino, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani and Sergio Rossi.

Next year is the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, and to commemorate the anniversary Warner Brothers Consumer Products has enlisted Swarovski and 19 designers to design their take on Dorothy’s ruby slippers.  The designers include A. Testoni, Abaeté, Alberta Ferretti, Betsey Johnson, Botkier, Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani, Lisa Pliner, Manolo Blahnik, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, Roger Vivier, Sergio Rossi, Stuart Weitzman, Tibi and Tuleh.  All of the designs will include Swarovski crystals and will be unveiled September 4th in the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue.  The shoes will take a tour and make several stops including Art Basel in Miami.  The ruby slippers will be auctioned off and the proceeds will benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.  The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite movies and I cannot wait to see this collection!  I hope they make their way to San Francisco!

If I Was A Rich Girl . . .

*I know proper grammar dictates the use of the word “were” not “was” but the title is a tongue in cheek reference to the song Rich Girl song*
I would have a new pair of stilettos for every night out, from feather drenched or patent leather Louboutin’s to camouflage or zebra print Manolo Blahnik’s. These are the kind of shoes you build outfits around.
louboutin blahnik
Oh, and bags! I never have enough, no matter how many I gather I always find more that I need. Each bag holds it’s own special place in my heart. My favorite styles are usually day totes and clutches – the ones pictured below would be an awesome edition to my ensemble any day of the week.
