It’s an exciting time for the women’s sneaker game - it seems like people are noticing that ladies love kicks too (finally!). The big companies have started tapping women designers to design collaborative projects and smaller independent companies are beginning to cater to the women’s market by developing new lines just for us. The newest kid on the block is an offshoot of JB Classics, is strictly for the ladies, and is called Booji. The first model, releasing later this year, is called Regal-One. To say that it’s Chanel inspired is an understatement. Between the quilting and the side purse (reminiscent of the ankle bracelet purses Karl created for his trouble-making celebrity clientele), most Chanel fans would find something to love about this shoe. I personally love these sneaks - it’s a great silhouette (high tops - yay!), i love the quilting and side purse, and you know I’m a sucker for lace locks. Stay tuned for more styles and a release date.

JB Getlo - FMF Model
JB Classics has teamed up with DJ Funkmaster Flex and the inventors of the automobile, Ford created two pairs of shoes. The JB Getlo - FMF Model will be released at only a select few shops around the world beginning now and hitting MOE’s Sneaker Boutique (NYC), DEEP STORE (Paris), Qubic (New Zealand), Overkill (Berlin), Garage (Switzerland) and online at Pick Your Shoes early December. More info at www.funkmasterflex.com and www.suite2206.com regarding the JB Getlo – FMF | Ford Motors Model and for a full list of NYC retailers.

Crazy cool things cooking in th JB Classics Lab with Kid Robot and artist TILT!! This is the second collective project for this trio and includes new sneaks and a sweatshirt that will drop in August. You can rock the sweatshirt over-sized, maybe even get a little flash-dance and cut the neck (since it is for men) and if you are a ladies size 9.5/10 you are in luck since mens 8 is the smallest the shoes come in…or continue to be the amazing girlfriend you are and buy them for your man
Either way, you will figure how to work these into your life! Perhaps us ladies could start rocking mens kicks as an accessory…slung over the shoulder, tied around our waist, the options are endless!

Our lady Retrogurl of Nitrolicious interviewed Mdot, the first lady of JB Classics, this week and it’s a must read. There are so few women in the streetwear game and even fewer in the kicks game. Take a minute and check out what Mdot has to say about her design influences, her views on street culture and being a lady in the business. And can we just talk about the shoes for a minute?? They’re crazy! My current favorite is Mdot’s latest creation, the Peddler Chromeo. I can’t decide what my favorite part is: the quilting, the chrome application, the snakeskin-ish black leather trim or the clean colorway. It’s pushing the shoe game to a whole new level and has the makings of a classic . . . a JB classic. Peep the interview and more pics interviewed here.

JB Classics just posted a presentation of the new collection they are releasing on Tuesday, October 31st. The presentation gives you an inside look at the process of making shoes along with definitions, as well as beautiful detail shots of their product. Not sure if any of the pieces in the new line are for ladies but I’m pretty sure they size down small enough so the ladies aren’t excluded.
