Here are a few more picts from the Adidas Original Party that happened in Berkeley a few weeks back. The ladies of Hot Tub are no joke. They hella go! They get stupid, hyphy and dumb! There’s moshing, rolling around on the ground, usually some stage diving (if there is a stage) and most certainly crowd surfing. All bets are off when they throw down, even the mannequins aren’t safe!! See more picts and video here.

The East Bay Express Presents “Best of the East Bay 2008″ tonight at the Oakland Museum. This event is in celebration of the winner of the “Best of the East Bay”, an honor bestowed among Bay Area talent. The night wil include both visual and performing arts and it’s FREE!!
Also featuring dance performances by Savage Jazz Dance, Circus entertainment provided by Splash Circus, live half-pipe and graffiti art demonstrations, plus an exhibition of our recently painted “Express Art Racks” by local artists. Film screenings from the Express 24 Hour Digital Film Festival will run throughout the evening. Younger party-goers can have fun too at the Chabot Space & Science Center Kids Zone with a planetarium, arts & crafts, live kid’s band performances from Bandworks, & more!. The Outdoor Village features food & drink, local artistans, community groups, etc.
This is the premier party of the summer. Don’t miss out on this amazing evening! The Best of the East Bay party is free of charge, and open to all ages, with free admission to the Oakland Museum of California’s Cool Remixed Bay Area Urban Art + Culture Now and Fridays at 5 with Billy Dunn and the Ladies Choice Band.
As you probably know, M.I.A. came to town a couple of weeks ago. See our write-up of the show here. Local favorite, Hottub, was the opening act and I had the opportunity to style out my girls in the band. We got to the venue at 4 p.m. and rocked it until midnight…and then the after party. It was a long day but the most fun ever! Wanted to share with you some of the behind the scenes action and what the ladies wore. Ok, so we get some fun stuff on the West Siiiiide. Like the weather has been pretty fun lately, esp. last weekend and we have amazing Mexican food too…but we are also getting the most guaranteed to be a hella hyphy bunch of BANANAS after party for tomorrow nights M.I.A. concert. Yeah, M.I.A. along with the Bay’s own triple threat, Hottub will be rocking the Concourse Pavilion tomorrow night. But once the show is over, the par-tay begins!!!! The homies, Official Tourist know how to do it MOST OFFICIAL and will be hosting and throwin’ down at “The Offical Tourist Official M.I.A. Deportation After Party”. Get there early as the spot is small but guaranteed to go BIG!! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Yes of course fashion and beauty are exciting, but one of my other favorite pastimes is discovering GOOD new music, and the following two bands, Hottub and Chow Nasty are fo sho, Ah ma Gawd worthy. The ladies of Hottub with their cheeky femme-bot rhymes are hardcore rapping machines and Chow Nasty’s indietronic funk is just crazy, quirky, fun. Both bands are San Francisco East Bay natives, and both are guilty of marrying funny, clever lyrics to righteous good beats, and have a hell of a lot of flair. So listen up folks, if you like to get your dance on, gather up your posse and check them out ASAP!!
