Back in August, we let you in on a little rumor about a possible M.A.C. x Hello Kitty collaboration. We’re happy to say that the rumors are true and this collection is a reality!! The new collection will release on the M.A.C. website on February 10th, in U.S. stores on February 12th and overseas in March. There’s an expected high demand for these products and M.A.C. will begin taking preorders on the items beginning January 7th on the M.A.C. site. The collection is split up into 2 subcollections: Hello Kitty Colour Collection and the more high-end Hello Kitty Kouture. The collections include eyeshadow quad palettes, blush, lip glosses, eyeliners (with glitter of course!), as well as non-cosmetic items like a tote bag, cosmetic bag, Hello Kitty plush doll, mirror and make-up brushes. The in-store visual displays were shot by none other than Nick Knight. I can’t wait to see his images, they are always so amazing! And, I can’t wait for this line to drop! I think I’ll be putting in my pre-order on January 7th . . . the early bird gets the worm!

On Saturday, September 6th, the much awaited Colette x Gap pop-up shop on 54th & 5th opened to the public at 10 am. I didn’t make it to the store until 12:30, and I figured that by that time any line would have been over and done with. I was wrong. Very wrong. The line went around the block. I took my place and prepared myself to be there a while. Luckily, the Labor Day parade was making its way down 5th Avenue and the music and chants of the union workers made the time pass a bit faster. Two hours and a dirty water dog later, I finally made it into the shop.
The first thing I saw was the Alexis Mabille x GapGreyJersey bow purse (pictured below) and I was in handbag heaven. I grabbed a purse and made my way around the shop to see all the product and tried to decide what else to get. I decided on the bow purse, a mug and a notebook. Some of the products were already sold out when I got there (about 4 hours into the shop being open!). There were only a few pairs of the Repetto GapGreyJersey ballet flats and I saw a woman pick up the last of the Longchamp Pliage GapGreyJersey bags. The Kangol GapGreyJersey (pictured below) are marked as “coming soon” on the site but they were already out. Even though they were limiting the amount of people in the shop it was still a bit chaotic - you could feel the anxious shoppers nervously going through product and trying to decide what to get before it was snatched by someone faster. I documented the shop as best I can and you can check out more pics of product after the jump.
The Colette x Gap is open until October 5, 2008.

As you’ve seen from our past week of coverage, many designers were very open to having their pieces photographed. However, not all brands allow photos . . . but that doesn’t mean we can’t TELL you what we saw.
Tarina Tarantino is known for some great collaborations including Barbie, Hello Kitty and Kid Robot. What’s next? Hmmmm, we’ll give you a hint, it involves good witches and bad witches, flying monkeys, a yellow brick road and some Pink Floyd. Ok, well maybe no Pink Floyd, but the next collab project for Tarina Tarnatino is The Wizard of Oz, in celebration of the 70th anniverasary of the classic film. The collection will contain four lines inspired by: Dorothy, Toto, Glinda the Good Witch and The Wicked Witch of the West. Each line has it’s own colors and stones associated with it, for example, “ruby” for Dorothy, “emerald” for The Wicked Witch of the West, “pearls” for Glinda and “diamonds” for Toto. The pieces were really cute and this collection should drop soon - we’ll keep you posted!
We’re also excited to announce that Mishka is introducting a full women’s collection complete with cut & sew items. The collection included tees, leggings, denim, tops and a skirt with detachable hood & suspenders. Very cute! Mishka also developed their own custom camo called “stabouflage” and the print is used on several pieces. The Mishka eyeball motif also plays a large part and you can find them printed all over leggings or embossed on buttons for the denim pieces. If you were a fan of Mad Balls back in the day, you’ll love this stuff. The collection drops for Spring so stay tuned!

I have crazy-good vision and have never needed glasses, let alone contacts, but this contact lens case is BEYOND cute! Maybe I can buy it and put Tic Tacs in Bear and Kitty.

M.I.S.S. ladies are not ones to gossip, but I just read about this and I couldn’t help myself because it involves two of my favorite brands. Word on the street is that Mac may be teaming up with Hello Kitty for their newest collaboration. Mac representatives would neither confirm or deny the rumors, though based on their past collaborations with Fafi, Heatherette and and upcoming October project with Emanuel Ungaro, it seems very likely. I hope they do this it would be soooo kawaii!!

Lets face it ladies, we all have a little soft spot in our heart for all things Hello Kitty regardless of our age. Maybe it’s because Hello Kitty conjures up memories of our childhood or if it’s just because everything Hello Kitty is just plain cute! It’s probably a little of both right?Sanrio Co. just released this new a 5-megapixel digital camera that blushes when the shutter button is pressed. I’ve loved Hello Kitty since I was a little girl. I would love going to Macy’s with my mom because we would inevitably pay a visit to the Sanrio Hello Kitty area in the little girl’s department. Well, I’m not much taller than I was then, but I’m a bit older and I’m still a sucker for Hello Kitty products . . . you know, the ones for big girls like luggage and laptop bags. Well, now you can have your Hello Kitty bling to match your bamboos. Kimora Lee Simmons designed a line of Hello Kitty bling and it’s now available for purchase here. They’re a bit pricey compared to the colored pencil sets but we’re older now and and we deserve some diamonds now and then, no?
