Gift Your Lover with L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers This Season

L.A.M.B. accessories for the higher-end chicks!

L.A.M.B. accessories for the higher-end chicks!

L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers just announced via press release that they are expanding with a new collection of accessories for personal electronics for Apple. Oy va voy, more ways to spend the money I don’t have! Although I’ve been a fan of L.A.M.B. since Stefani’s debut line with LeSportSac (and I still have some pieces, what!), I can also appreciate the younger demographic she is targeting with her Harajuku Lovers line. In fact, her fragrances for HL are sold in a little hat box of four this holiday season, and the gift collection is set up to look like a dollhouse! But there I go, digressing again.

The new electronics collection includes iPhone clutches, MacBook sleeves, gadget pouches, backpacks with built-in laptop compartments and a laptop tote, among other styles.

The L.A.M.B. collection, with retail prices ranging from $50.00 to $400.00, is available in the coated canvas Signature Collection and the embroidered leather Ultraviolet Collection, both of which coordinate with the handbag collections of the same names. The L.A.M.B. Ultraviolet collection will be available only at the Apple Online Store and select Apple retail stores. The L.A.M.B. Signature collection will be sold through Apple as well as Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom.

And for the younger (or cheaper) set, the Harajuku Lovers collection is made of satin-weave nylon and prices range from $30.00 to $100.00 at retail. The Harajuku Lovers collection will be available through Apple, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s.

The Link List: 10.16.09

link list 10.16

20 Links, Twenty Lynx, Twenny Lanks!!!!!!

♥♥ Sneak Peek! New Holiday multi-finger rings from Melody Ehsani!

♥♥ Kari Farrell, the Hipster Grifter wrote a love letter to Animal NY’s Bucky Turco where she describes what it’s like to be in prison. She refers to herself and her bad habits that landed her a place in jail as being like “a retarded dog who keeps getting fines for not picking up after myself.” It’s no “Handjob with my mouth” but entertaining nonetheless.

♥♥ Crazy hot DIY Alexander Wang-like sock braces by Jazzi McG.

♥♥ Readymade editors sometimes go a week without something or other. Currently, editor Caitlin Thornton is doing her best to go a week without garbage. It is hard. (that’s what she said)

♥♥ Do you ever troll craigslist looking for freaks to laugh at? I do that. Here is a great example from The Daily What.  A topless man that looks like Stephen Root wants a dude of virtually any age to jerk off by his train set – no homo, and then Godzilla that shit but not break them, because they’re his sons. Also, free crab meat.

♥♥ You knit? You got a dog that sheds? Save Money on yarn with the book  Knitting with Dog Hair via Awful Library Books.

♥♥ Damn Nelson Mandela, you smell so good. Via Urlesque.

♥♥ Jon Bon Jovi is about to get spread like margerine (cuz it’s so much wacker than butter) all over NBC Universal affiliated channels and programs to promote his new album. Unwanted! Dead or alive. Via Idolator.

♥♥ 3 Remixes to downloady: Feist – I Feel It All (Diplo Remix) from Broken Silence // Florence + The Machine – You’ve Got the Love (XX Remix) from Indie Today // Drake – Best I Ever Had (Matamatics Remix) from Gotta Dance Dirty.

♥♥ Ahmaaaazing sequined butterfly bow clutch by bow master Alexis Mabile on Couturelab.

♥♥ Likely the most bullshittiest collabo yet, Tretorn and Commes des Garçons present some sneakers with matching tees that look like your homeboy in 7th grade homeroom was bored with a marker and couldn’t even think of anything interesting to draw. Via Format Mag.

♥♥ Seventeen has pics of the Rodarte collection for Target that drops in November.

♥♥ Elle reports that Joe Corre, son of Vivienne Westwood is leaving his position at Agent Provacateur, the company that he co-founded. What’s next? We’ll have to wait and see.

♥♥ Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are entering the eyewear game with $400 sunglasses for their line The Row. Via WWD.

♥♥ Frank Gehry designed a pair of boots for J.M. Weston’s Autumn/Winter 09 line. Via Designboom.

♥♥ Style.com drops the haps on the Keds Opening Ceremony collab that recently hit  their stores. Animal prints, kid – retailing for $125. These are not your skippies from Jr. High.

♥♥ Sarah Jessica Parker is launching a new scent called SJP NYC and I promise it doesn’t smell like the horse drawn buggies in Central Park. Via WWD.

♥♥ Speaking of scents, Style.com reports that Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lovers are back in the game with some slalom-back girl winter “Snow Bunny” steez.

♥♥ Segways are kinda cool/kinda lame. I flippy floppy. The PUMA – a sit down collabo between Segway and GM leans a little further toward cool. It’s been redesigned. I wouldn’t kick one out of my driveway. Via Designboom.

♥♥ Polaroid cameras and film are coming back!  Even in the digital age, Polaroid is turning out to be a lot like the little engine that could. Yay! Via Cnet.

Fashion Meets Music: Gwen Stefani

Fashion Meets Music: Gwen Stefani

Fashion Meets Music: Gwen Stefani

Fashion Meets Music: Gwen Stefani

Flashback to 1995 and the release of No Doubt’s album, Tragic Kingdom, and the anthem that started it all, “Just A Girl”. The world was introduced to this energetic blond Orange County girl with red lips and a punk/ska/rasta style. You could catch the video on MTV and blast it. Fast forward over a decade later and Gwen Stefani is still flexin’ on stage and in the design room.

Fronting No Doubt was a playful and experimental period for Gwen. Her bandmates, Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal, and Adrian Young rocked a California punk rock ska style while Gwen stood out with her unique fashion sense and changing hair colors. The hot pink braids in the “Ex-Girlfriend” video were  killer. In fact, every new video Gwen emerged with a different character.

She made her aspirational style accessible in 2003 with the designer collection, L.A.M.B, and expanded the brand in 2005 with the diffusion line Harajuku Girls inspired by Japanese culture and music. Usually celebrity “designer” collections aren’t something I look forward to, but Gwen’s forecast is always fresh and on point with trend. She understands that the music/fashion translation must be relevant. She is often photographed wearing both lines anywhere from the grocery store with the boys to a red carpet event with her husband, Gavin Rossdale.

Around this time her solo album, Love. Angel. Music. Baby., was released and fans got to see a different Gwen, this time being backed by four Harajuku girls who seemed to accompany her everywhere. Her look went more gothic/lolita/chola girl in the “What Are You Waiting For?” and “Hollaback Girl” music videos. The baby doll corset dresses, big curly hair, and those amazing Vivenne Westwood lace up boots was a great breakout video. “Hollaback Girl” paid homage to her SoCal roots taking inspiration from the chola girl style of tanks, Dickies, sneakers, cat eye makeup, and round tip red nails. The “Luxurious” video was another gorgeous look that combined chola style with influence from Frida Kahlo.

For her next album, The Sweet Escape, Gwen’s cover look was a striking take on Elvira Hancock, Tony Montana’s main squeeze in the film Scarface. Her models for the L.A.M.B collection that followed all had the blond wigs with the bangs. Gorgeous. Her stage look really translates and even though her styles are always changing the rasta/punk/girly themes are all still there.

No Doubt Gwen is currently touring with her band, No Doubt and back to the rocker style that we love, acid wash jeans, chains, combat boots, and a six pack, she looks great!

Stefani worked at a beauty counter in a department store growing up. Regardless of her changing outfits, her platinum blond hair, porcelain complexion, and ruby red lips are trademark Gwen. So, when is M.A.C going to do a collaboration with her?! We’re waiting.
