M.I.S.S. Michelle's Beauty Pick of the Week: Ixnay a Bad Hair Day - With Ojon’s Restorative Hair Treatment

A bad hair day can be the fastest mood killer around. It’s one of those irksome things that can shake your confidence – not because anybody can really tell that you’re having a bad hair day, but because it creates a relentless frustration that dwells in all your thoughts, slowly beating down your reserve like Chinese Water Torture, haunting you until alas, you are able to do something about it. When my hair is damaged from all the heat and chemical processes, I become that bad hair day girl, and I hate it. I know that when my hair looks good, I feel good. And healthy, vibrant hair is always indicative of youth and vitality, what everyone wants sure enough. This week’s pick is one to make even the most brittle and damaged hair healthy and soft again, and is Ojon’s Restorative Hair Treatment.

M.I.S.S. Michelle's Beauty Pick of the Week: Ixnay a Bad Hair Day - With Ojon’s Restorative Hair Treatment

Ojon’s Restorative Hair Treatment works like nothing else out there.

Ojon’s Restorative Hair Treatment is a deep conditioner made from the oil of the Ojon tree, a plant species native to the Moskitia region of the Central American rainforest, whose indigenous people are known for their beautiful hair, which is protected from the sun and the elements by the Ojon oil. The oil comes in solid form and when warmed between the palms, turns into a luscious moisturizing hair conditioner. The oil has a unique fragrance, (which fades after a few hours) like that of chocolate, wood, and smoke, and is rubbed through the scalp and hair, and then later rinsed.

I LOVE this product because it works like nothing else out there. My hair incurs a lot of damage since I frequently use heated styling tools, and also due to the fact that it is highlighted and long with very few haircuts. The Ojon website states their clinical tests show:

• a 52% improvement in the condition of very dry, hair after just one use
• a 64% improvement when left on hair overnight

You will definitely notice an improvement in hair texture once you use the Ojon Restorative Treatment. It WILL NOT FIX SPLIT ENDS, nothing does except for cutting with very sharp hair cutting shears, but it will make the hair shaft a lot more flexible, shiny, and soft. It’s worth every penny and a little goes a long way. (My hair is down to my waist and I use about a teaspoon.) It’s all natural too, with limits on the annual harvest to protect the natural resource of the Ojon tree, and a portion of Ojon’s profits is donated to the indigenous people of Central America. It’s truly a beautiful story, for beautiful hair.

M.I.S.S. Michelle’s Beauty Pick and Tip of the Week: Ohhhhhhhhh…..You Can Touch This – Hair gets Hau-taaaaay at Tar-jaaaaay with L’Oreal’s Elnett, Heyyyyyyyyyy

L’Oreal’s Elnett

L’Oreal’s Elnett

This week’s pick is another fave I discovered at good ol’ Targaaaaaaay (Target). While browsing through the hair care aisle, a tall, gold, old school looking bottle caught my eye. I stopped to check it out, and upon closer inspection I realized it was L’Oreal’s Elnett, the keeper of elegant European hairstyles, which has not been available in the U.S. until recently, as L’Oreal has introduced this more ozone friendly American version in order be in accordance with the U.S. government’s environmental laws.

I like to think of Elnett as the chic version of Aqua Net. The hairspray’s packaging boldly states, “Disappears at the Stoke of a Brush”, which is no lie. Elnett gives your hair a very touchable hold, similar to Bumble and Bumble’s Does it All Hairspray (one of my classic faves), but delivers just a tad bit more hold (sort of like insurance, which ALWAYS gives me more confidence), while also protecting it from humidity, and infusing it with body and volume, a very European quality, and therefore slightly more glamorous than its American contemporaries. The color-treated hair formula contains a UV filter to protect hair from sun damage and fading, which is GREAT FOR ANYONE WITH CHEMICALLY TREATED HAIR, and/or for those that spend a lot of time outdoors.

M.I.S.S. Michelle’s Beauty Pick and Tip of the Week – Minding your Ps Curly Qs: New Waves, New Technology, New You

Photobucket
This week’s beauty blog was inspired by a trip to the spa I had a couple weeks ago.
I went in for an aromatherapy massage and was ecstatic to find the facility had a steam room and dry sauna. Now sauna-ing to me is serious business; so serious that I wear my hair back in a tight low chignon, so I can really concentrate on getting the most from my “heat zone?, my mental/physical state while taking in a sauna. So of course, I had to take my hair down when she started the scalp massage part of my massage. Soon after, I was very happy to find the chignon and the steam had “set” my hair, leaving me with some very pretty waves, and since I am a naturally stick straight hair person, I’ve always been obsessed with making curly hair….So flashing back to the 90’s, I used to have the Caruso steam rollers, which I loved, but which broke some years ago. So after doing a little research, I was excited to find Vidal Sassoon now makes a set of IONIC steam rollers, retailing for $19.84. So this week’s pick is all about my new beauty device: Vidal Sassoon Ionic Molecular Steam Hair Setter, 20 Piece
