She’s Crafty Halloween: DIY Masquerade Mask

She's Crafty Banner

Making a masquerade mask is a fun and easy way to create a signature look on a budget. All of the items used can be found at a local craft store and probably around your house.

You’ll need:

Supplies

Supplies

  • A mask, plain or pre-decorated (I found the lace mask for $8)
  • Acrylic jewels in assorted colors and sizes
  • Feathers (you can find them pre arranged, the set used on this mask was $2.99 at Michael’s)
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks (About 20 bucks if you don’t have a glue gun already)
Apply Glue

Step 1- Apply a strip of hot glue to one side of the material at the base of your feathers. Press and set to the back of your mask giving it enough time to adhere, give it a minute.

Add Jewels To The Mask

Step 2- Then take acrylic jewels, apply glue, and adhere to the front of the mask. I used different shapes and sizes, feel free to get really creative right here.

Step 3- Once your mask is complete, it’s time for the makeup, my favorite part. I used black kohl pencil to rim my eyes and a black eyeshadow to deepen the eye sockets, it makes your eyes stand out creating a more dramatic effect.

Step 4- Finish with a dark lipstick, I chose black because I’m currently obsessed with the Style Black collection from M·A·C! A deep red or purple will also do the trick.

Step 5- Voila! You are ready for the party! Play it up with accessories like lace gloves, fishnet tights, and a fabulous dress from your closet for a gothic-lolita esque look.

Cutie Dynamite: Insanely Cute!!

cutie dynamite
Cutie Dynamite is another brand I discovered at Chillin’ last weekend. I saw all the hair accessories on the table and immediately felt like I had landed in Candy Land and wanted to skip and twirl. Ok, so I didn’t twirl but I nearly jumped up and down when I saw all the cuteness that Cutie Dynamite had to offer. Andrea, the woman behind Cutie Dynamite, hand finishes the pieces herself. Most items are one of a kind and her hair accessories include: hats, fascinators, bows and frothy confections made from the finest materials. In fact, some of her materials are also hand screen printed original designs. Andrea loves to work with vintage velvets, lovely vintage flowers, lace, and Swarovski crystals. She also loves color so her pieces are not for the color-shy. Her inspiration is a combination of Gothic Lolita, Japanese street fashion and Victorian mourning. It all perfectly comes together in the amazingness that is Cutie Dynamite. Be sure to befriend Cutie Dynamite on myspace and lucky for you, you can purchase online! Her pieces range from $10 – $40 so they are very reasonable. She also does custom stuff so hit her up and get some Cutie Dynamite in your life.
