Since their breakout hit “Standing In The Way Of Control” in 2006, the Gossip’s leading lady, Beth Ditto, has established herself as a cultural icon for her daring fashion sense and positive conscious body image. Really, how many girls past a size four do you know that would bare all for a magazine cover, wear sequins that hug every curve, and not give a damn? Then again, how many punk/soul/disco bands are out there? This week we are featuring The Gossip’s front woman, Beth Ditto not just because her style rules, but because of her empowering attitude and stage dives.

Her bold mix of texture, color, and shape combine to create chic looks with a post-punk mentality. She can work the camera as we see above. Love the graphic makeup and hair, a dream face to work on. She’s come a long way from her hometown in Arkansas, nowadays she is sitting front row at fashion shows and even rocking afterparties.

Beth on the premiere issue of LOVE Magazine

Beth Ditto was named the NME’s Coolest Person In Rock (in one of her four cover appearances), took home the Glamour Awards’ 2008 International Artist Of The Year, appeared on the cover of the premiere issue of Love magazine, and is a much-sought-after guest on UK television. Beth and the Gossip’s music have become well recognized in the UK and in Europe and with the release of their latest album, Music For Men, hopefully we will see more action from them in the States. They have a few more show dates in the US and then they head over to Europe.

   How fabulous is Lily Allen’s fit? The pale pink dress has a repeat print of Bambis getting their throat slit.  Awesome.  She wore this dress at the UK’s Glamour Women of the Year Awards Ceremony.   She received the Editor’s Special Award in recognition of her career as a singer, TV presenter, and style queen.I’m not sure if I love her with the pink hair, but either way, she seems to pull it off.  And I have to respect the fact that she did it herself.  Commenting on her new hair color, Lily said: “I did it myself in the bathroom. I’m happy with it.”
