NY 3/4: B-Side by Ken & Dana Gun Reclamation Project Fundraiser

GUN reclamation project: Living in NYC it seems we never go more than a week without hearing of another shooting. Rather than spend our energy on fear and contempt we decided to take the instrument that represents violence and deconstruct it’s crucial elements to be reframed as symbols of non-violence. Beyond symbolism we wanted to commit ourselves and those who purchase these pieces to keeping guns off our streets – for each work sold from this collection a contribution will be made to an upcoming NYC “Gun Buy-Back Program”. The DA’s office and the NYPD partner with local churches to offer $200 bank cards for any firearm turned at these one day events. Since 2008 5700 guns have been taken off the streets citywide.

Jewelry	This event will be your first chance to purchase the collection. We will be selling items at a discount (necklaces start at $50) with %20 of the launch sales go towards the fundraising effort.

Donations	If you are unable to attend but would still like to contribute select “0” tickets and add a donation to your cart (%100 of these funds will be donated)

DJ Zita and DMadness were recently burglarized and and the vandals stole ALL of their DJ equipment, laptop, jewelry, and many other personal belongings.  All proceeds from the door & the silent auction this night will go to helping them back on their feet.  Bay Area all-stars VINROC, PLATURN, MR. E, SHREDONE, DJ Zita, plus Knowmadic residents DMADNESS & MPENZI will be takin’ it back with old school hip hop and R&B.   They also have some dope items in the Silent Auction… a framed Shephard Fairey Obama HOPE poster, 2 Mixerfriendly canvases, an exclusive pair of Mama Adidas w/ matching black velvet New Era hat, an autographed copy of Jeff Chang’s book, an autographed copy of Bryant Terry’s book Grub, paintings, mix CD packs and more!
