Oh, the things I would buy this upcoming season if I had a bottom-less wallet! The Gucci Hysteria collection has so many amazing accessories - complete with a knight in shining armor. I can never get tired of the Gucci logo canvas but Frida Giannini has definitely stepped up the game with lots of new touches like punk-like studs and exotic animal skins. Then of course, there’s the fun stuff. Who doesn’t need a Gucci swiss army knife? And the beanie! I have a similar Louis Vuitton one but I’m a sucker for all things black with a green and red stripe. Lastly, the over-the-knee boots are amazing - very high but not at all stripper-like. Although, for me to be able to rock those boots, I’d have to call this post, “If I Was A Tall & Rich Girl.” Ah, sigh. The grass is always greener, right? Gucci has been pretty active raising money for UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Foundation, and in it’s latest project, it’s chosen Rihanna as the face of the campaign. Gucci designed a collection called “Tattoo Heart” all the pieces feature a “tattoo-style heart motif” and 25% of the proceeds from the sale of the collection going to UNICEF. This is not the first time Gucci and Rihanna have worked together: In February, Rihanna performed at a Gucci fundraiser for UNICEF and helped raise $5.5 million. Frida Giannini, the designer for Gucci, explained her choice:

So when we decided to dedicate a full ad campaign, more than just creating products, to really come out and show our commitment to UNICEF, we wanted someone with a strong personality,” Giannini explained. “I felt a musician and a beautiful woman was the perfect icon for this campaign.

The ads were shot in Paris by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and will be in December magazines.

Finally! The long-awaited Gucci Resort 2009 show took place in Rome earlier this week and it was well worth the wait. Frida Giannini’s collection was heavily inspired by 1970’s bohemian chic. Lots of chiffon sundresses (perfect for disco dancing on the beach), jumpers, peasant blouses, safari-style jackets and skinny trousers ruled the runway. The color palette was very earthy and ranged from brown, white, burnt orange and turquoise. The 70s aesthetic worked it’s way down to hair and makeup with side-parted lustrous long hair and kohl-rimmed eyes. And the accessories! The bags look great with many oversize varieties and a bit of python and snake skin accents. The collection was beautiful and consistent as a whole and did a great job of evoking 1970s jet set glamour. See more of my favorites after the jump . . .
