For me, Fall has always been less about the leaves falling, and more about piling on the layers. The excitment of new designs and trends, mixed with quality pieces to last through winter, are exactly what new line Georgette had to offer for the upcoming months.
Part of the New Jersey-based boutique Air Supply’s designer co-op, Georgette is an upscale collection unveiling its’ third season. Focusing on well-cut and innovative basics, the line is sleek and feminine. Pieces are airy and silky for the most part, and feature lush jewel tones and dainty floral prints. My favorite was a silky button-up blouse with an amazingly rich color palate somewhere between mustard and lime.

Besides day-to-night worthy tops and tunics, Georgette also offers up a series of suited pieces and stunning coats. With intricate waist detailing, pintucking, and heavier winter-worthy fabrics, stunners such as a white pencil skirt and a soft grey wool bolero are great examples of the line’s quality tailoring.
Priced on the higher end of things (prices range between $700 to $1500), Georgette is a stunner line of pieces with longevity, perfect for the stunner girl on the go!
Early fall, M.I.S.S brought you the exclusive scoop on the brand new jewlery line, The Dynasties. Brainchild of the fabulous Rika Shimada, it was love at first sight when I first laid eyes on the dookie rope style hoops and cute sterling silver bow-rings. Needless to say, I was beyond amped when I had a chance to stop by Pitch Control PR’s showroom to view the upcoming Fall collection.

The Dynasties did not disappoint! The collection is part carry-over from last season’s designs and the new pieces are a step up from the street-influenced direction the line initially seemed headed for. Upgrading with the use of jewels, the cute factor was in full feminine effect with earrings consisting of a line of alternating mini silver hoops and jeweled hearts. Keeping with the girly-esque theme were the sterling-silver stackable rings adorned with miniature hearts. Slip a couple of those on and you’re sure to look tastefully fly.

More bold was the large oval-faced jeweled ring. With it’s gorgeous flint, black, and white marbled coloring the cocktail ring was a stand-out piece worthy of a whimsical party dress or finest kicks!

The Dynasties’ hottest pieces from Spring are making an encore appearance, including the Chain Rope necklaces that double as headbands. The new collection will certainly give your accessories drawer a lady-like boost for Fall!
So, last fall I just about fell in love with the Canadian streetwear brand Lily + Jae when I got the chance to check out the spring preview of the line. I found the garments to be cute but not quite cutesy, with an effortless tomboyish aesthetic that completely appeals to my desire to look put together, but casual at the same time. This upcoming autumn/winter collection for the brand is no different, as they continue to put their use of simple color palettes, well thought out prints, thermals, and comfortable fabrics together with both simple and interestingly shaped garments.
The theme for this season is “Choose Your Own Adventure” and is best elaborated on in the brands own words as seen below. Read the full story

Andrea Crews presents “Sisters of Mercy” for FW09. A “dark” version of SS09’s “Sunset Empire“, the Fall collection covers time and space spanning morning, day and night. Morning presents itself through androgynous styles that use minimal silhouettes and the use of ombre “sky blue voile”, the shading from dark to light is reminiscent of day to night.
Day is representative of a active time dedicated to Andrea Crews “basics”. Basics in the world of Andrea Crews means conventional pieces worn in unconventional ways: overalls turned upside down and over-sized t-shirts. Wool and angora pullovers are printed with snowfall, clouds, woodland, animal skin and the eye of God, in earth colors. African block wax prints bring a bit of “earthy-ness” to the collection as well as the fringe and slashing create a plant-like feel.
Night is displayed through cocktail dresses and black woolen and leather pelisses with details in wax. Expect the unexpected though…cocktail dresses are fit for duel personalities. Can’t decide between the black or the blue? The jumpsuit or the dress? Not to worry, Andrea Crews has you covered. You can wear both, at the same time.
The accessories incorporate wood and plant life. And as always, all pieces are hand-made and include recycling vintage fashions to create haute couture pieces. Merging nature and fashion in a tribalistic fashion, welcome to the future of a tribe called Andrea Crews.
The economic downturn did not nothing to stop the luxury from oozing out of each and every piece in the Louis Vuitton Fall ‘09 collection. Normally, I just check out the accessories, but the clothes this season are so fun! There was a bit Madonna in the ’80s, with a dash of the Mary Jane Girls and a touch of a femme fatale from the 1940s (think suits). Marc Jacobs cited French glamour from the 80s as inspiration and it shows with lots of ruching, ruffles, bubble skirts and peplum jackets. The accessories were amazing. Giant necklaces looked were reminiscent of paper chains from school days. The heels were towering in an array of luxurious fabrics like lace and velvet with pearls on the heels and thigh-high boots that would have made “Pretty Woman” proud graced the runway. The final touch of class came in the form of leather fingerless gloves opera gloves - ruched, studded and in different colors.
The bags are stunning, particularly the black/gold/beige combos. Words can’t describe the beauty - chains, embossed leather, new treatments, gilded monograms, leather ruffles - it’s all there. The eye glasses were a nice surprise and are some of the most unique frames I’ve seen in some time. Since the clothing and accessories were big statement pieces the hair and makeup was kept pretty low key. Hair was upswept (some with dramatic headpieces ready to take flight) and makeup was minimal with black eyeliner and neutral lips and cheeks. All of this was set off against a gold backdrop and music reminiscent of the 80s sound. See it for yourself!

By far one of the high-lights of my tradeshow adventures, Timo.’s handmade neck accessories caught my eye instantly. Made from the finest fabrics: leather of paper-like thinness, perforated leathers and silk satins, the quality in fabrication and craftsmanship is instantly apparent. Timo. is the design duo of Timo Weiland (pictured above) and Alan Eckstein, started in 2008 they are said to be debuting a ready-to-wear collection in the near future. In the meantime you can adorn your neck and your man’s neck with bow-tie bib’s, western tie’s and draped collars fit for a queen…or king.
You can always expect the warm and cozy from Massachusettes brand Penfield. This Fall 09 collection is no exception to that rule. Color-blocked puffers and vests, floral print light weight outerwear pieces, color-popping bags, bags inspired by a Southwestern sunset and leather trimmed vests that offer a bit more sophistication. I usually go straight to the bold bright color but Penfield’s blk/blk Stapleton vest is speaking directly to me, the leather is a hit!
Fall 2008 was the debut collection for Modern Amusement’s Women’s collection. The ladies are lucky to finally get some of those fine tailored threads mixed with bold colors and modern graphic patterns that the gents have had the pleasure of sporting for the past 4 years. Showing at the Project show this past week in NYC, I had the pleasure to browse the Women’s F/W 09 collection. The offerings are made of fine fabrications; silks, cottons, wools, offer all the details you’d expect and the playfulness in color-combo’s and silhouettes you would imagine a brand called “Modern Amusement” would put forth. The Fall collection takes on elements worthy of “The Preppy Handbook” mixed with elements of school girl chic stirred into a vibrant array of colors and the sophistication of fine fabrics…you really can’t lose.
